  1. Any hiring bias towards new male nurse 50 years old?

My husband just graduated in May, was hired in June at a magnet hospital and he is 65. I graduated in 09 and most of my patients think I have been a nurse for a long time. Funny. Males are usually hired first.

Hey: I graduated in 09 at 49, my husband just graduated 2 weeks ago at 65! He also received the Kathryn Courtney award for excellence (she is the lady who started the school) and already has a job lined up for June. It is never too (old or late) t...

  9. How did your employer recognize Nurse's Day?

Our facility gave us goodie bags with candy, lip flavors for our lips, a pizza cutter with a slogan about no matter how you slice it how great we are. Also, they treated us to pizza and icecream. We voted on different nurses "most likely to win on ...
  10. I'm really angry!!! And i just need to vent!!!!

I graduated in May 09 and it took 4 months to find a job. Go out in person to every nursing home in your area. That was the only job I could find. They usually hire a new grad before a hospital. While employed keep looking at the hospitals. It t...
