  1. Best HH GPS?

I also have a Garmin nuvi (low end about $100) and it is GREAT. I was just telling my hubby today that my job would be 100 X's harder without it!
  2. OASIS nurses??

Well, I LOVE it so far! I'm doing mostly SOC and recerts right now. But I did regular visits for the first few weeks. The company I work for is EXTREMELY organized and really care about the nurses. Good luck to you!
  3. help me with answers to test

the answer to the Hirschsprungs question will more than likely be "ribbon like bowel movements"....also "failure to thrive". And I think that stool is the correct answer to the "palpable mass in abdomen of a child". Good luck to you.
  4. I'm afraid to go to school with child

I had a trach patient who also required a lot of emergency equipment and the bag that I pulled was VERY deep so everything fit in there (ambu bag, small O2 cylinder, extra trach, extra mic-key button kit, lubricant, nebulizer and all the other stuff ...
  5. I'm afraid to go to school with child

Also a backpack on wheels helps a lot! I never enjoyed going to school with my client either but did LOVE her teachers. How you do things is really up to the teacher....if the teacher doesnt mind it then just suction and do treatments as you normally...
  6. Advice PLEAAAASEE

She will more than likely continue to be considered homebound. There are many many homebound pts that have routine outpt visits, so I don't see this being a problem. My grandmother just lost her battle with this very nasty disease and she had regular...
  7. Working during nursing school

I worked at least 40 hours a week throughout nursing school, had a husband and baby. Its hard but its very doable but it is based on each individual. I am a pretty laid back person and don't get stressed easily, for a high stress person it may not be...
  8. Homebound Status

Like everyone else said.....medical appts are allowed. Even daily appts. I would assume that the chemo IS what makes them homebound since it would take a considerable and taxing effort to get to those appts. Even going out to get an occasional haircu...
  9. Home Health a good option for fairly new grad??

I just started HH as an Oasis RN (or admissions). I started on 4/5 and so far I've had 3 days of "ride-a-longs" but still have several weeks of detailed nurse orientation where I will be checked off on all the skills. I would not take a HH job that...
  10. Pregnant and in Nursing School ( Advice for a friend)

I was in nursing school when I had my daughter and I had a vaginal delivery. If she can get her doctor to write a note clearing her to be on her feet for 12 hours for one day a week, then I don't think that they can deny her. Of course if she has com...
  11. Health Care Reform: Should we all go per-diem?

When people who make a lot of money are just asked to pay their fair share like the rest of us working people, it is not stealing from the rich. And the WORKING poor (who sometimes work more than 1 job) who do not have insurance are not "laying on th...
  12. Health Care Reform: Should we all go per-diem?

Sure it is definately cheaper to see a PCP than go to the ED. Thats why we need some reform in that area. Lets attack it from that area. Lets provide incentives to make PCP more attractive, help with med school costs, better pay etc. A large portion...
  13. I got Stafford loans and private loans and worked full time the whole time I was in school. Working full time while in nursing school, while not for everyone, is totally possible. I am not very educated on all the ins/outs of loans and financial aid...
  14. As far as I know, you only give it orally for Acetaminophine overdose and via neb for thinning bronchial secretions....but I could be wrong.
  15. Health Care Reform: Should we all go per-diem?

Under the new bill, your taxes (one portion of taxes) will rise approximately $40 per month if you are an individual making $200,000 or over or couple making $250,000 per year or over. If you are, I am envious of you!!! You will also in the future be...
