I'm sorry this is happening to y'all. I am witnessing hospital infrastructure collapse and the government is not taking it serious at all.
  2. All of you need additional pay.

I haven't posted in several years and I have been retired from healthcare for 2. I had to log in to let y'all know that nurses are the soldiers on the front line when a bioterrorism attack hits (because that is what COVID-19 is). You all should be r...

  6. Snow & calling out of work

The rule when I worked at the hospital by was that if you were scheduled to work, you have to be at work. If you were on-call, it was an automatic that you had to be there. If you see on the news that day before that they are telling you it's gonna ...

Just fixing it is not proper corrective action & defeats the purpose of performing an audit.
  10. Snow- at what point do you call out?

Not sure how to respond. You know that if there is 2 feet already on the ground you can't drive in it so you will have to call off. But if you know the snow isn't gonna fall till 1 pm and at 6 am the roads are clear you need to go ahead and go on int...
  11. In my lab we have a voluntary weather team for each department. That person has to be qualified to do everything. If you are on the weather team you need to pack a bag and be prepared to stay. I know in hospitals in my area if you are on-call you ...
  12. How to survive 16h shifts...

I second this! You can go very far with support hoes and comfy shoes + Dr. Sholls insoles. Make sure your toenails are cut! Overgrown toenails can add to the discomfort in shoes.
  13. I got fired today, how will that affect my chances?

Hey RNAdam, did the other nurse get fired too?
  14. I got fired today, how will that affect my chances?

    Lord have mercy.

Oh, one more thing. I keep hearing about how nurses don't even have time to pee. You HAVE to pee. You won't be able to concentrate with a full bladder. You must make time to pee.
