  1. How would that work with your hospital? I have thought of doing the same, but feel like if I go prn I might not get enough work when I come back. I love my job and don't want to lose it but want to TRAVEL!
  2. Would adult med-surg help me at all?

I started out on a busy m/s floor for about 9 months before moving to peds and feel like I learned a LOT that I may not have learned here. Even though I disliked my first job I think it made me a much better peds nurse.
  3. Failed the Core Values Assessment?

Jattjatt, are you asking me? Yes, I worked elsewhere for 9 months, then retook the test and got a job there...been there for 2.5 years and am happy in my job:)
  4. Best snack food

Greek yogurt (Fage brand with honey) and string cheese.
  5. Can anyone tell me about Med couture?

I wear an XS petite in Urbane and Grey's Anatomy...Med Couture runs the same in sizing compared to these brands for me, except I don't need petite pants. I think they are my favorite scrubs I own. Try 'em, I have a feeling you will like them:)
  6. Water

L.O.L. Yes, I have noticed some leftover crumbs and cups when I get to work at 0645. One reason among many I have been wanting to switch to nights.
  7. Water

Where you work, are you allowed to have water (in a covered container) at your workstation?

  9. ER vs Med/surg- someone wanna clue me in?

This made me laugh! I thought the same thing to myself, and especially a particular pt of mine (one of six pts, as usual) who had meds every single hour of my shift save for two. What, why!? And him being rude for my coming in so often did not help.
  10. I miss the OR.

You gotta do what is right for you, if you know what I mean...
  11. I chose my 1st job b/c it was a day shift, the people seemed friendly, and the building was clean and had lots of light. My new job I chose b/c it is close to my house, and b/c it will provide ample opportunity to learn new skills. Also, of all the i...
  12. Finally, I am an ICU nurse: CVICU

    Congratulations!!!
  13. Can you work straights days?

As the first poster said, it is not unheard of for hospitals to schedule rotating shifts, but where I live it is very rare, most are straight nights or days. I would say put in some applications and see, it can't hurt to try.
  14. Background check taking long time...

I have contacted my recruiter and was told it is this particular health board who is not responding...apparently whoever conducts the background checks wants verifications that this red flag on my former health license is nothing serious. I am consid...
  15. Dropping Magnet

I am furiously making notes...for the future, of course. Here in the South there are no Unions and nearly all hospitals are religious-affiliated.
