  1. Newly Accepted JJC Nursing Students

I just graduated in December from JJC RN program and I could not agree more about 2nd semester being the hardest (with 3rd not too far behind). Just an insane amount of work. Yes, the L&D is a killer, but it is also probably the best rotation! ...
  2. Freshly Accepted @ JJC!!!! :-)

Congrats to all of you! I'm in 3rd semester now and remember the feelings of overjoy and comets anxiety after receiving my letter of acceptance! Don't get too worried-first semester is all about the basics and getting ur feet wet. Great instructo...
  3. 3rd Semester at JJC

I too just started 3rd semester at JJC. 2 theory days and one clinical day per week. Not as crazy as it was at the beginning of 2nd semester (thank goodness!) Several of us were very stressed during the first several weeks of 2nd semester because ...
  4. Adventist and Agnostics?

I have worked at an Adventist hospital for 20+ years. I AM NOT an Adventist, but I am most definitely a Christian. What I have found is that as long as you are either comfortable with your self as a "christian" and can pray general enough without c...
  5. At what age did you decide on nursing?

You can do it! I never thought I had time to do it, until I was laid off from my job. I know that this is God's plan for me. I had been slowly taking one class then taking the next semester off, etc for 2.5 years. I was laid off 1 week before cla...
  6. At what age did you decide on nursing?

Good for you! I too found "life happened", and before I knew it I was in my 40's and I still hadn't done anything for "me". I was laid-off from my job a week before classes started so I grabbed the bull by the horns and signed up for Chem and A&...
  7. At what age did you decide on nursing?

You go girl! My mother-in-law is 83 years old now and STILL works 3 NIGHT shifts/week as a nurse! She doesn't have to work, she just loves it and doesn't want to give it up. If you graduate in a couple years, barring any unforseen health issues, y...
  8. At what age did you decide on nursing?

42!! And I am not the oldest in my class! Have 3 kids that are incredibly involved in my church 35 miles from home; we travel there 3 times/week! Also have part-time job and a husband who is a fireman, so you know how often he is not home... Trus...

  13. JJC Spring 2010 applicants

Yeah - I figured "quick in and out" instead of waiting on the 17th when everyone else will be doing it. You pay for it and it just takes a couple days to get it back. They have them in stock at the store.
  14. JJC Spring 2010 applicants

I'm thinking us "days" students should start a study group in January!!!! I picked up my "lab coat" (which is really just a burgundy scrub jacket with a patch sewn on it) - only $22-ish and that included them sewing the patch on.
  15. Joliet and JJC former and current students

Although they said we would be signing up for classes in November, when and where do we go for the drug screen, background check, etc... I am pretty sure the titers are on our own to get from our personal MD (or wherever), but are we on our own to g...
