  1. Geriatric Psyc or Telemetry Stepdown internship

This is kinda ironic, but I did tele step down right out of nursing school and now I work in a psych hospital. Each of them has their ups and downs. The step down unit was very fast-paced and I learned a lot. It turned out to be a pretty stressful...
  2. NCLEX RN GONE BAD

  3. A real nurse

I work in a state psych hospital and many of the nurses there state that they do not feel like "real nurses" since they don't work in a "real hospital." I worked in a "real hospital," aka MEDICAL hospital before working here. I tell them to quit sa...
  4. Is it just the holidays?

I agree. I can't stand it when people post such rude comments or responses! I know honesty is the best policy, but have a little respect! Merry Christmas!
  5. New Grads...Teaching Hospital vs Community Hospital

  7. Such a bad rap

ME TOO! I took a job at a state psych hospital and all the ppl at my last job in a medical hospital reacted the same way. I love my job and have never been in harm's way. (Knock on wood!)

  9. Wondering how other hospitals are.

I worked on a floor just like yours... We even pulled femoral artery sheaths after caths. It was very stressful. I left after a year and half, because of the stress. I loved patient care and feeling like I was really making a difference, but the j...
  10. anybody move to TX and regret it?

I am working in my second nursing job. I have never had a problem getting a job. I have had several job offers... I'm not lying here. Waco/Temple, Austin, and Tyler are where I got the most job offers from.
  11. anybody move to TX and regret it?

I lived close to Austin for about a year. It is a great place to be especially if you are single. So much to do!!!
  12. I need interviewing tips for Scott and White.

I work at S&W and went through an internship. I did an internship on the tele/step down floor... it was the first year they started doing it, so it was very unorganized. It was a glorified preceptorship. But that was only my experience. The h...
  13. Tyler, Texas: Trinity Mother of Francis

Tyler is a nice place to live and work. Tyler is as country as any other town in Texas. Definitely not as "way out there" as some cities in West Texas! You see cliches and racists althrough out the South, but that doesn't mean that everyone feels ...
  14. Possible relocation to Tyler, Texas...

I have lived in Tyler in all about five years. I love it.. very beautiful town. ETMC and TMF are both good hospitals. I work at a state psych hospital though. I really enjoy it. South Tyler is definitely the area of town you'd want to live. Li...

Consider looking into state agencies. I work for a state hospital in Texas and PMHNP are always needed.
