  1. Coworker issues - so disheartening

I am in the same situation as the OP, except I made double the MA. I took the verbal abuse, the cold shoulder, the back-talking for months. If it ever came up where she was reminded that I am the nurse and she is not, I would pay for it with attitu...
  2. Fellow RN died this morning.

My coworker (and friend, mother, grandmother) died this morning in a car crash, she fell asleep at the wheel after working a 12+ hour night shift. I just wanted to tell other night nurses (that are prone to getting sleepy on the drive home) that it i...
  3. Lowest blood sugar...?

    11. THe patient came to the ER for hyperglycemia and was brought to our floor around 5am. I don't know what kind of insulin he had in the er (not my patient), but right after shift change he was 11 (accu check). He was diaphoretic and completly unr...
  4. PIH cart...need any resources

In school, our textbooks called it a "critical pathway" if you want to Google that term. Its a multidisciplinary map of what should be done on what day, etc. We used them most with post-op and psych pts. Hope this helps! ~Ali
  5. ATT how long in FL???

Any May '05 grads receive their ATT yet? I hate this waiting... can't start my new job until I get my temp permit...
  6. Confused about the NCLEX and licensure...

True! However, if you have registered and paid your $200, Pearson will email your ATT when they get approval from the BON, and then you can immediatly schedule the test (and have more dates available!). Much faster than waiting for snail mail. Also...
  7. Confused about the NCLEX and licensure...

It looks to me that four things must be done 1. Fingerprints 2. Your school must send transcripts (they should have sent them after you graduated, but you may call the school to make sure). 3. Your application must be sent in (with the li...
  8. Just got ATT!!!!

I would schedule the test for June 10th (to give myself one day off!). When you go home from the review each night, you could go over areas you didn't quite understand and do one hour of questions. Statistically, you have a better chance of passing ...

  10. Just got ATT!!!!

Congrats and GOOD LUCK on your boards!!! :balloons: I am still waiting for my ATT, buit I just mailed my app (out of state) two days ago, so I guess I'll have to wait some more... ~Ali
  11. Unrealistic goal to get job as new grad in ICU?

My class just graduated 18 students and 13 are going into an ICU including three in a trauma and two in NICU. Their NMs feel that no Med/Surg equals no bad habits and they can train them the way they want them. That said, I am thinking about working ...
  12. HIPPA Violations

A great website to thumb through about HIPAA http://answers.hhs.gov/cgi-bin/hhs.cfg/php/enduser/std_alp.php?p_sid=xPmDQ6Gg&p_lva=&p_li=&p_page=1&p_cat_lvl1=7&p_cat_lvl2=%7Eany%7E&p_search_text=&p_new_search=1 ~Ali
  13. HIPPA Violations

It is my understanding that this practice does not violate HIPAA as long as the patients are not listing symptoms or the reason for the visit with there name.
  14. Peer Interview

I have a peer interview scheduled for Friday on a cardiac unit. I have never been part of a peer interview. Has anyone been through one? What questions are asked? What is the purpose? Thanks ~Ali
  15. GN Temp permit question

I graduated last week from and ADN program and I recently applied to get a temp permit in my state, but I am now considering a job in another state. I have not taken the NCLEX yet. Can I apply to more than one state for my GN/ATT, or do I have to wa...
