Question: Anesthesia school requires 1-2 years...

Take your dialysis experience, go get some ICU, and go to anesthesia school. I was a dialysis nurse for 13 years (chronic and acute, both hemo and PD) and WITH THE ICU EXPERIENCE, my dialysis training has served me EXTREMELY well in anesthesia. The t...

    Running PRBC concurrently with NS?!

The size of the IV speaks to the resistance to flow overall. According to Pouseille's Law, decreasing the diameter of a flow tract by 50% will increase resistance by a factor of 16x's. Resistance in an IV also contributes to turbulent flow, (as oppos...

    Who does Dental anesthesia?

I sure don't disagree with the concept of one actually doing the surgery and anesthesia being responsible for the monitoring. Have seen this time and again not only with this concept in dental, but endoscopy, cardiac caths, etc. Have seen too much, t...
  4. Pay the money to get it expunged, get your records sealed, whatever. Just do it. Work OT, work two jobs, whatever you have to do. It will be money well spent.
  5. It's cheaper than the alternative, which is giving up your life. You get out of it what you put into it. Best of luck.

    Running PRBC concurrently with NS?!

If you can't run blood with NS, then I have been doing it wrong in every open heart I have ever provided anesthesia in. Just sayin. Does your hospital have Up To Date or another clinical resource database. I paid the $$ to have UpToDate on my phone a...

    Why can't nurses intubate?

All day, every day. But let me say this: while I have literally thousands of intubations...y'all, it's a neat party trick, but knowing how to maintain an airway with chin lifts, jaw thrusts, oral airways, and how to bag someone...THAT'S how you save ...

    How much do you make?

My guess is the 90K in Florida is around the Gainesville area. Shands starts in the 90's. One of my friends got a job there straight out of school. She says the money stinks, but the experience is fabulous.

going rate of pay for dialysis nurses

When I left my chronic HD position in 2005, I was making 24/hour in North Florida with 12 years acute/chronic experience and a CNN cert. My friends still there say it hasn't gotten much better since then.

Yes, CRMC pays more. You will earn EVERY PENNY of it.

Nursing in Tallahassee and/or Melbourne, FL

TMH isn't a bad place, and we always need experienced ICU nurses. If you're not opposed to straight weekends, 31/hour + shift diff. I can't recommend CRMC. I worked too hard for my license.

Where Is The Worst place to work in Florida?

Haven't seen anybody from the Panhandle, so I'll join in: Pensacola - West Florida is a scary place. My gf just quit as a house supervisor in fear for her license. It is an HCA facility. Sacred Heart and Baptist are both OK. Tallahassee - Tallahass...

    Need your thoughts, experienced nurses....

You take a deep breath and learn to think outside the box. Sounds like you're doing just fine - we all have those days, and don't let anyone tell you they don't, 'cause they're lying!
