I am 54. Went to LPN at 51...I WOULD NOT DO LPN, unless you just want Long Term care or maybe home health. Or Dr. office. Your opportunitys are SO MUCH BETTER with an RN and I wish I had known THEN what I know NOW. I am working on bridging, but th...
  2. I found it very interesting that the responses were so offended by the question and how they took it. If someone has no "faith" it does not make them a lesser person or inferior nurse at all. In fact in my school, we were encouraged to explore our ...
  3. Are LPN's being phased out?

I am a fairly new LPN, going on 2 years. Have only worked LTC but hear those rumors all the time. I didn' t want to do LTC and wonder from the sounds of comments if there is any chances of LPNs w/out Med/Surg experience and years behind it have any h...
  4. Going to Nursing School at an Older Age

THAT EXCITES ME!! I finished LPN last June and have worked a year in an LTC. In our area, NO Hospitals hire LPN's except acute care. I am WORKING ON getting my RN, but wondered the same thing. I LOVE that you get to work in Surgical trauma ICU =)....

  7. Unfortunately, this is the practice I have also seen. I am a recently graduated LPN. I have my first job in a LTC, and I have seen the same thing in my clinicals AND at work. However, I have also seen someone do it right. I saw in clinicals an RN wit...
  8. NCLEX-PN study group!!!

HEY PNS!! I JUST took my NCLEX last weeK! we were told you really can't study, and to some degree it's true...IF you didn't pay attention and do the work all along! There were a few in our group who took shortcuts w/ homework ie: giving answers t...
  9. are NEW GRAD LPN's finding it easy to get a job

DIFFICULT! My classmates and I got finished June 18th. We all are having problems, except for one who was an experienced aide, stayed at her old place and they put her on as LPN. Even others with aide exp. are having trouble and I had none. I wo...
  10. Roll Call, LPN to RN Students!!!

Hi all! I just graduated with my LPN June 18 and TODAY scheduled to do the NCLEX -PN!!! It has been very discouraging looking for LPN jobs because they don't hire GPN's that I can find! I REALLLLY want to work Med/Surg and get some good experience a...
