  1. 50 year old New Family Nurse Practitioner

48 years cutoff for the Army. That's with all the waivers. There is definitely a need for Nurse Practitioners but age is also a discriminator. I should know because I commissioned as an RN at the age of 39 :)
  2. What does your username mean?

    Rusty Nail for RN :)
  3. Army Reserve Nursing

xx2 would stand for RNs with 2 years of experience. xx3 with 3 years, etc.
  4. Army Reserve Nursing

The best to explain the supply and demand for RNs in the Reserve component (and National Guard, as well as Regular Army) is the AMEDD Journal: http://www.cs.amedd.army.mil/AMEDDJournal/OctDec2011.pdf Check out the graph on page 85.
  5. First Deployment Advice

I stand corrected. This time and age you can probably get a Google Earth view of the whole hospital...
  6. First Deployment Advice

GB is growing quite an empire: Green Beans Coffee. Starbucks beware.
  7. First Deployment Advice

We fobbits like our Green Beans coffee :)
  8. Is nursing really that bad?

    Here is the second part...
  9. Is nursing really that bad?

I dare to disagree. Military nursing (Army specifically) is a decent job for men too.
  10. First Deployment Advice

    # of beds sounds a little on the OPSEC side but who am I to judge? If any of my friends goes to my Facebook page, they would hardly know I am an RN, and an Army RN one at that. You just never know who's listening.
  11. Dominion, NVMHI, & St. Elizabeths Psychiatric Hospitals

If I were to go into Psych I would probably choose Dominion. Let me ask you another way: if money were no object, would you rather go to Georgetown, George Mason or PG Community College?
  12. anyone currently enrolled in Georgetown?

I wish you guys the best of luck! I have always been impressed by Georgetown's Nursing program. Remember that they also have their Pre-Med option available to Nursing majors.
  13. New grad jobs?

    Joined the US Army :)
  14. Can't decide!

Watch Baghdad ER (HBO) and if you are still ready, join the US Army :) Depending on your specialty. Army deployments are now 9 months.
  15. US Forest Service

    Weren't they closed in 1942?
