  2. Confused about Carpuject???

I use the 'ject for 99.9% of medication administrations. I work on an impatient hospice unit and give my fair share of morphine, Dilaudid and Ativan!! I have at least 2 in my pockets at all times. The pharmacy keeps plenty of them stocked for us!

  4. Do you hate doctors?

I work in an inpatient Hospice unit. Our medical director is the kindest person I have ever met. She oozes compassion, caring, and empathy. If I had an ounce of her compassion I'd consider myself lucky. Don't generalize. It seems like you have some m...

  11. When nursing staff ask for medications

I'm 6 months pregnant and keep Tylenol and Tums in my work bag. If an employee asks, I give them some of my own... I don't want anyone to work with a headache!! Can't believe 'diversion' and 'Tylenol' are in the same conversation... What have we come...
  12. LTC Salary for new grad RN

I also work in CO and make 22/hr base and 2.75/hr incentive for nights... This is in a LTC facility.

OP, awesome rant!! I sooo feel your pain! I work the 6p-6a shift at an LTC. I have 57 residents after 10p and the work load is incredible. All the meds, the treatments, the charting, the med orders, the crash carts check, the stocking, the list goes ...
  15. Why aren't nursing homes doing 12 hour shifts???

I work 12 hour night shift at a SNF. I love the shift and would quit if they went to 8s. I couldn't stand being there 5 days a week.
