  1. Petite Scrubs?

I'm 5'1" and just shy of 100 lbs so I hear ya! Cherokee has XXS petite pants which are wonderful! Also, as someone already stated, Greys anatomy (albeit a horribly stupid show) has great tops. The bottoms that are XS are still long but the tops ar...
  2. Feeling Flustered

Hey there! My first hospital job (which was my second job, and the one I am currently at!) hired me for evenings .8. So basically I work 8 shifts in two weeks from 3p to 1130p, and every other weekend! I don't blame you for not wanting to work nig...
  3. Catheterization Expiriences

    ..... is that for real....??
  4. Your opinion on HOSPITALISTS.

Love the hospitalists!!! Well all, except for one of em... but that's solely based on his personality We have a lot of them, but we are also a huge hospital! So easy to get ahold of, we can just text page them online for quick orders we need and t...
  5. Feeling guilty for not going in to work, when called for extra

Nope I feel pretty comfortable not going in :)
  6. Hi there, congrats on getting a job in this tough market! I have to say, on my unit, everyone has another RN check their insulin even if it is subQ! It's just our protocol! So, you were very smart to do that! :) Also, mistakes happen to *everyone...
  7. Need some advice. I hate my job!

haha what?! That is extremely depressing. I hope this isn't true for the rest of the population... I work on a very busy and challenging unit but I LOVE my job. I don't always like everything that happens on my unit day to day... but I really gene...
  8. Number of patients you care for?

I'm in MN and work on a busy med/surg floor on the evening shift! we care for 4 patients each unless someone has a 3:1 assignment (for example, if someone gets an insulin drip then that person will only have 3 pts due to higher acuity and time in ro...
  9. written up

What?? If I had to listen to a head-to-toe report on all my patients I'd go bonkers! We only report off on the pertinent information.
  10. High Risk Meds

At my hospital double checks are completed in different ways for different meds. For SQ heparin you do not have to put a double check into the MAR (we use all computerized charting as well as bedside barcoding). For insulin gtts, heparin gtts, and ...
  11. New Grad feeling like a failure...

Keep trying... I know that sounds cliche! I graduated in May 2010 and did not get a job until this past March. It's a great job though and I'm learning a lot! But, it did take almost a year to get it! :/ With your 6 months experience you will be ...
  12. Pre-pouring or Preparing, That is the Question

I do correctional nursing on a PRN basis (med/surg is my full time position) and the facility I work at in MN did the pre-pouring of medications into those packets when I first started there. When a new company took for the medical department for th...
  13. Is this safe/normal??

I work on a med/surg floor and we also have high acuity patients and one charge nurse. We have 2-3 NAs like your floor BUT, our ratio is 4:1 (for days and eves, more for nights). That just doesn't sound safe at all!! :/
  14. Definitely!! Just make sure you have some time to yourself as well! We are not much good to our patients if we don't also take care of our minds/bodies as well :) I have a .8 (32hrs/week, which is full time at my hospital) job as well as a PRN job!...
  15. nursing school notes

To be honest I haven't looked at mine since! (Been working for a few months now)... I gotta purge out my closet too! :)
