   Well let me put it this way. Im a Medical Assistant and Im getting paid $40,000 (about $19-20 an hour) w/6 years experience, the LPN I work with makes $26 an hour. Then again, Im in New York.

   What your describing is very similar to what Im debating myself. I would like to try LPN to see if I like it....if not, then I will have to be happy making $40,000 as an medical assistant.

   In NY, LPN programs are closer to 2 years and RN is 4 years unless if you take an accelerated course, then in that case you will finish sooner. Thanks for the input :)
