  1. Anyone else dealing with this?

We call it flexing someone at my facility. We typically flex pool employees first; full time very rarely gets sent home. You didn't post about nurse/patient ratios like most people on this thread, so if that's satisfactory, I'd deal with a shotty sch...
  2. Pearson Vue Trick - Does it Work Every Time? Part 2

I can't believe people would call and ask about the trick! That's like calling your cable company and asking them if you are supposed to have extra channels your not paying for! BTW, did the trick, got the good pop-up, paid for the quick results and ...
  3. Pearson Vue Trick - Does it Work Every Time? Part 2

  4. Exam in one week! Advice needed please :)

Bring a barf bag for afterwards... still anxiously awaiting my results.
  5. Pearson Vue Trick - Does it Work Every Time? Part 2

As much anxiety as that tests causes... I truly believe I'd spend the $7.95 to get my results 20 minutes earlier LOL... Getting the "good" pop-up is great, but nothing really makes it real until you see it.
  6. Pearson Vue Trick - Does it Work Every Time? Part 2

I took the NCLEX and I'm still convinced I did absolutely horrible. I felt like throwing up after I left... Been freaking out all day until I heard about this trick. I got the "good" pop-up! It seems fairly reliable... I hope it holds true. Wish me l...
  7. Research Paper Ideas?

I like the idea of intraoperative care, however, I don't know any pro/con arguments about nurses in the OR. For the next class, I think I will do the pros and cons of paper charting vs. electronic health records.
  8. Stuck on Med Calculation

This confuses me too... If you have 10mL vial of 50% MgSO4, wouldn't you need to know the mg per mL?
  9. Research Paper Ideas?

I have two APA-style research papers due for two different nursing classes. The first class is ADULT NURSING; focus is on technical skills like IVs, foleys, NG tubes, OR procedures, sterile fields in the OR, etc. with theory focusing on Med-Surg comp...
  10. New here, a few questions

Psychiatric nurse practitioner isn't just an MSN, I believe it's a post-Master's certificate. Which equates to 4 years BSN, another 2 MSN, another 1-2 post-Master's certificate. 7-8 years in total. I think it's an awesome career choice though. My ult...
  11. Another New Guy Joining the Ranks

I have over 10,000 pages of nursing books at home in just two semesters! Just realize most of your stack is reference (drug, medical dictionary, nursing diagnoses, pathophysiology). Then you have your study tool books (med calc, handbooks, study guid...
  12. I haven't experienced any discrimination at all. To the contrary, everyone tells me how smart I am to get into this field. The "awkwardness" of being male that I anticipated couldn't be further from the truth. I feel sorry that there are still instru...
  13. How to tell if nursing is for me?

Take a CNA class. That'll get you the most basic concepts in class, some clinical experience (probably in LTC), and if you decide its just not for you, at least you have a CNA license as a "fallback" career.
  14. Ages of male nursing students?

I'm 27, started doing pre-reqs around age 25. Will be LPN at age 28, RN at 29.
