  1. PDPM Admission

My understanding is you still do an admission and yes you can combine it with the 5 day. For managed cares we just do the admission, no 5 day and then contine with a 14 day, 30 day, 60 day, 90 day.
  2. Should I go back to school?

Not looking for financial advice. Just general advice.
  3. Should I go back to school?

I was in a rn program and exited 1st qtr of my rn year. I had the option of being jobless with no job prospects or quitting the program and working full time as a lpn and I chose the latter option which I now regret.
  4. Should I go back to school?

I don't know that I will have any prerequisites to complete as it is the same program I exited 7 years ago. The idea of going back to school and eventually working acute care appeals to me. I am scared because while I know the ins and outs of mds's I...
  5. Should I go back to school?

I am stuck. I am currently a lpn in ltc. I am a rcm/mds coordinator that makes a very decent wage of 28 per hour in rural Washington state. I have the opportunity to go back to school and have my employer foot the bill. I don't think my wage would ju...
  6. Why is it so hard to find a rn job in a different field?

I am a resident care manager. For the most part I work 8-5. There are days that my job is crazy, we get a late admit, or that I come in on the weekend but for the most I get evenings and weekends with my family. I began as a cna for the company and n...
  7. Weed and work.

I work in washington state where pot is legal. But it all depends on company policy. For my place of employment they have a zero tolerance policy for drugs and marijuana use isn't acceptable. Employees at my place of employment are tested upon hire a...
  8. Social media and nursing don't mix

I am speaking from experience. I work ltc. I love my job and ltc. I also recognize that lpns have been phased out of hospitals around here. Yes I could go work at a clinic but I would make several dollars less per hour. I encourage you to get your rn...
  9. Pharmacology

I always would study drug classes and that would help. That along with flashcards.
  10. Lidocaine with Rocephin?

We always use Lidocaine. The order doesn't necessarily even read that way. The pharmacy even automatically sends the Lidocaine. If I had a STD I hope I would get the best care regardless. As a nurse I try not to judge the people I take care of or th...
  11. What do you think of 12 hour shifts?

I work 12s at both my jobs. I really enjoy it. I could do 8s too. I'm pretty easy peasy. I see benefits and downsides to both.
  12. What would you tell to your younger self?

Stay in that little apartment for longer. You can't beat $125/mo rent. While you are getting that dirt cheap rent, pay off your car and save, save, save. Avoid credit cards. Don't rent the house next to your husbands best friend. It will need a ton o...
  13. Would you work on your day off?

I have 2 jobs. And in the past, anytime I was called would go in to either job. Now though, my husband is in school, and so he can't always watch our daughter at the drop of a hat. So unless I can quickly round up a babysitter, I don't go in at the d...
  14. Do you like your long commute?

I used to drive 30 min and would put gas in my car every week. I also made $6 more per hour than I was making closer to home. THEN I was offered a job 5 min from my house with a matching wage so I took it. I still work on call at the place that is a ...
  15. Weeding out?

3rd quarter at my school was known as the weeding out quarter. Mainly because of pharmacology. I passed pharm without difficulty and really struggled with the supposed easiest quarter, summer. I struggled bc I really like to read on information over ...
