  1. discussion regarding education of NP (DNP) and PA compared to MD/DO

Let me see if I'm getting you correctly... You would have become an MD/DO because you don't like your fellow nurses? What is your reasoning behind this?
  2. male nurses refusing to do certain treatments?

I would have to hear the other side of the story to make a detailed comment on this thread. I know that some clients, esp mat-nb, may be unconfortable with male nurses and male nurses with them. Nursing is a profession career; we need to act the part...
  3. I hate nursing

If you hate nursing don't do it. Nurses must be compassionate about nursing. People are not money and nurses are not bankers.
  4. discussion regarding education of NP (DNP) and PA compared to MD/DO

I agree w/ you JDCitizen, all the kinks should have been worked out. From the start, there should have been a standardization from BSN to DNP.
  5. discussion regarding education of NP (DNP) and PA compared to MD/DO

Maybe she (Mundinger) is biased... I'm not one to say if she is. Upon examining a study, all individuals will interpret the data differently. The mass will have to come to an agreement on a generalized understanding of the data interpretation. The n...
  6. discussion regarding education of NP (DNP) and PA compared to MD/DO

From my understanding, ADN programs do not require Chemistry, and the BSN programs I have looked at only require Gen Chem I. All nursing schools can set their prereqs. I do believe there should be a gold standard through out the Nation for Gen Chem I...
  7. discussion regarding education of NP (DNP) and PA compared to MD/DO

I have read many articles and experienced several aspects on the D.N.P., P.A-C, N.P., M.D./D.O. situation. It has been shown in numerous studies that the N.P. does without a doubt provide primary care that is better or equivalent to that of primary c...
  8. Memorial Hermann Memorial City Hospital- Houston, TX

I did clinicals at MHMC this spring. They seemed ok to me. I don't know how big their oncology unit is. I always see that Southwest Memorial Hermann at 59 and Gessner is hiring for oncology nurses. Hope this helps and good luck to you in your search!
  9. Male Nursing Salaries

The pay is based on experience and most hospitals have shift differentials. 40 for an experienced nurse is not uncommon. I have heard of some hospitals paying nurses 38 right out of school for day shift. It is dependent on the hospital, experience, a...

  11. R.N., M.S.N. (N.P.), and DNP

I'm new to this site, so I am guessing this might go under healthcare politics, workplace issues, and healthcare legislation. The DNP is the newest degree that I have stumbled upon in reading on the vast things one can do in nursing. I believe in nur...
  12. Male Nursing Salaries

In the Houston Medical Center, ICU/ER pay varies from hospital to hospital, with the starting hourly pay from 28-34/hr. Community hospitals outside the medical center are on average 25-27.50/hour. Hope this helps.
  13. Why the high drop out rate of nursing students?

please let me know your thoughts on this also.
  14. Why the high drop out rate of nursing students?

I have completed one year in the ADN program. I am one of 13/60 students still treking along. It is a much tougher program than I expected. We were told that only the top 5% of applicants were accepted into the program. These are students with GPA's ...
