  1. How old is to old

How old would be too old for a ER nurse? Like a Trauma II hospital?
  2. Sponsor relapsed

Glad your moving, but if you don't find what you need there then keep looking. At one point when I was I was dealing a "different sort of issue" I drove 1 hour each way once a week for a meeting...and I would have driven double that if I had too......
  3. outpatient psych

Yes, my pay was less. But it was were I wanted a job and I learned a lot. Money isn't always the end all be all. I also liked that it was M-F 8-5 (Actually we had one evening we worked until 7). Again, cherry hours, and most patients were pretty...

Do they have psych nurses, I'd like to work with goofy!
  5. CNA "not a good fit"

Someone mention something about "in today's economy"....Gee what about creating a good pool of workers for when you have trouble finding someone young enough to do the job? Others have said but I concur, sometimes job skills like loyal, prompt, and ...
  6. Mount Marty vs Clarkson College CRNA programs

Are you from the area? Have no thoughts about the schools themselves, but living in Yankton is a whole lot diff than living in Omaha. As a result Clarkson may be easier to have the advantages of an urban area. Yankton is a beautiful Area.
  7. Do you prefer 8 or 12 hours shifts?

Wish my 8 hrs. was really only 8, but I agree 12 just leads to burn out. When it goes ok, 12's are fine...but when it goes to heck....they never end. Even though I usually put in more like 8.5 or 9 I still feel like I can do a few things on the day...
  8. Anybody know excatly how this law reads? One web site said RN's can be consider excempt employees just by virtue of being an RN and an LPN cannot. By the way I have graduated and passed the boards....I AM RN!!!!!
  9. God, my feet hurt!

Not a shoe answer, but freeze two empty plastic pop bottles with water, then roll them over your arches, ice takes out inflammation.
  10. How to tell your mom it may be time to stop chemo?

My prayers are with you. I went through a similar thing with my sister who was an optimist until the end (she is probably still an optimist). Obviously every Doc is different, and while her oncoligist was very busy and didn't always return calls r...
  11. failed lift test, may have lost job offer..

Our hospital does the same kind of test, and I also am not a big fan of it....if they expect you to lift 50lbs why do they invest in costly lifts? I've always considered lifting patients other "than a boost up in bed" to be risky anyway...not to th...
  12. Nurses at Disney

Apparently they don't have to pay u sounds like lots of people are all excited about the idea...but Mickey and Minnie scare me!
  13. Resume thoughts

Anyone have any great suggestions on resume guides/books/on line templetes? Anyone have thoughts about using a service vs. doing it yourself? I'd like to put one together general enough to use for "anything" (these are desperate times :)) but particu...
  14. Sounds like an issue to take to Labor authorities....I had a job once where we often had to "work" without pay....Wage and hour Department of Labor stepped in and we got retro pay
  15. Aging parents of a health care professional

I am taking care of my mother, currently, I'm lucky because I can. It started by "accident", but I have truly benefited from it. I know that sometimes due to the illness/needs level that it isn't always possible. But I tend to agree that "home" be...
