Congrats! I will be starting at VCU in August also. Are you in-state or out-of-state?
  2. Help with a couple of interview questions...

These may not be "mind blowing" but I asked practical questions at my interviews. These are some that were suggested to me from CRNA's: What is your attrition rate? What is your rate for passing boards? Will I be sharing cases with other students? Wh...
  3. Who's going to Anesthesia school?

Your math score is good. How did you study for the exam?
  4. Seattle area Crna

Sunshine, I shadowed at UW and had a great experience. You need to get a hold of the lead CRNA. PM me and I can tell you how to get in touch with her.
  5. Tell or DON'T tell colleagues/staff that you are pursuing CRNA?

Sigmachiguy, I'm coming a little late to this post and it looks like you have received some great feedback to a good question. Critical care nursing has changed a lot in the last 10 years. Working in an ICU at a level one trauma or large teaching ins...
  6. Georgetown Decision

I also have not heard from Georgetown. I expect they will inform candidates via email. At the interview some of the current SNRAs at Georgetown stated they waited longer than the Monday following the interview. This is a holiday week, so I would not ...
  7. 2015 is it official? YES

I think there is a distinction between a Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice (DNAP) and a PhD in nurse anesthesia. The requirement for nurse anesthetists (2025?) would refer to the DNAP which is a clinically focused degree. Universities often require...

Hi, I am applying to the following programs for the fall of '09: Mayo Clinic Georgetown Kaiser VCU UNC-Charlotte Can anyone give me insight into any of these programs? What to expect, strengths/weaknesses, recommend or not? Is there anything special ...
  9. Am I too old?

Thanks to all for replying to this post. I'm in my mid-30's and applying to programs for fall 2009. After following some threads here in the pre-CRNA forum I was starting to feel a little too old myself. Thanks for the honesty and encouragement; than...
  10. Money ruining CRNA hopefulls?

I would suggest first going through an RN program and then working as an RN before you fret about such things.
  11. 12 lead EKG?

May I ask what schools wanted your score? I didn't realize my score would matter when I took the test. I just winged it and only got a 97. I had several questions about po cardiac med classes with 4+ syllables that I had never heard of (I worked in C...
  12. 12 lead EKG?

I wasn't aware that the CCRN test was like GRE in that the schools have access to your score. I thought you either passed CCRN or not. Am I wrong?
  13. Letters of Recommendation for CRNA Applications

I work part time as a study coordinator in clinical research in addition to ICU. I was planning on asking the doctor I work with in research (my primary investigator) for a letter of reccomendation. Most schools seem to value any research experience....
  14. GREs

Are you referring to the Kaplan in class course? If so, I finish in early Sept and would be happy to keep you posted. Cassandra
  15. GREs

I wonder if that has anything to do with Kaplans higher score guarantee? Ha Ha! I agree, the Princeton review books are very good. I go to them 1st to review any subject.
