About WeirdNurseKelly

WeirdNurseKelly has 14 years experience as a BSN, RN and specializes in HH, Med/surg- liver & kidney transplant, ortho, ++.

I have been in the health care field since 2001. I worked as a medical assistant before I became an RN. I graduated from an ADN program in 2010 and received my BS (not my BSN) in 2014. Over the passed 9 years as an RN I have worked in ICF, ALF, home health, and for a spine clinic providing the scheduling and education to patients receiving spinal steroid injections. I currently work in my dream job on a med/surg ward at the VA. I have an overwhelming passion for working with veterans. I have been with my husband for almost 16 years, married to him for 11. We have two adorable children together (Samantha 6, and Clayton 4). We have four cats, love to be outdoors camping, swimming, bike riding, playing at parks, whatever! We also love our time indoors relaxing as well. I love connecting with other nurses. I love sharing stories and learning from others' experiences. We all have so much to share with each other.

Home Health burn out, advice welcome.

RUN! And run FAST!! I did home health for just under 3 years. I stayed with it because of the autonomy I had and because I had such a love for my patients. I was seriously getting burnt out, mostly because I kept getting more and more pressure from...

    Planning route for the day

I did home health in a large city. Because of traffic I would start with the patient who lived the farthest away afrom me and worked my way back home. I would try to make it so that I didn't have to do much back tracking. For those patients whose ...

    Med/Surg Certification

You are right. I totally read that incorrectly. I read it as having to be a licensed RN for 2 years, not for 2 years in the specialty :'( Bummer because I would love to test for it now. I guess it wont hurt to start preparing for it now. I believ...
