  1. Is it time to throw the towel in?

I am in a similar situation--I was in an RN program in Minnesota last fall, completed the first semester and then my husband got his dream job and we moved to Virginia. I don't regret moving, but I was totally unprepared for the frustration of tryin...
  2. Anyone age 35 and and up and a nursing student? (say hi)

I will be 44 this month, there is a mix of ages in my class (1st semester in an ADN program). However in my practice group I am paired with 3 students who are all 20, the same age as my older daughter! I am really enjoying the program, but I find...

Ours are a royal blue scrub top and jacket with school logo embroidered in white, and white scrub pants. Shoes have to be all white.

  5. Support from family/friends?

My husband is incredibly supportive of me, I gave up a full time job to go to nursing school full time so he is the sole moneymaker of the family. On top of that his job is very stressful and he travels a lot. My kids are divided--the girls (20 and ...
  6. Anyone attend North Hennepin in Minnesota?

I am starting nursing classes at Inver Hills next month. I don't where my clinical spot will be, although I have heard that they try to get it close to where you live. The instructors here seem really nice. I don't know anything about North Hennepin...
  7. Anyone starting next month???

  8. Here's how I remember it: "a" comes before "p" in the alphabet, so "a" is before and "p" is after--meals etc. For the b.i.d., t.i.d, and q.i.d. I think of b as bi (two), t as tri (three) and q as quad (four). Hope this helps.
  9. Clinicals Start this week!

You will do just fine. After you get your feet wet so to speak it will all get easier. I had clinicals in May in a nursing home, it was a very interesting experience. I found my instructor to be extremely helpful, she very calmly coached me and t...
  10. Microbiology

Congratulations! We finished our testing on Tuesday, and we had Proteus vulgaris, which is what we figured from the gram negative results and the small size of the rods. I'm glad to have it done with also, now I only have 2 papers left to write!
  11. How much are your books going to cost?

Our book list comes in at about $800 for all of them, but the dean gave us a heads up at orientation about which books are essential and which books we could share for at least the first semester. Our bookstore also has a "nursing students only" day ...
  12. how many tries?

I was accepted the first time around, will start this fall. For the fall 2003 year my school had over 400 applicants for 60 openings, and they had a lottery system. I was lucky and got the first alternate position! I have since heard that they have...
  13. Tired of summer school!

I am taking Micro and Medical Dosages (I take the final in this tomorrow morning-yeah!). My Micro teacher made the comment that we were nuts to take it in the summer. Can't wait till the end of July, this class is boring! Looking forward to the e...
