  2. KY~IN RNs: Respond or I'll Go Insane

Hello fellow Kentuckians! I can't answer Shezam's question. Just wanted to say hello. :-) I have three years to think about where I'm going to work. I already know that it HAS to be local though. I'm married with three daughters and a mortgage.
  3. Clep Tests

In my college manual it says that passing the Clep test is the equivalent of a "C" or better. I don't think I'd want to do that with any course that is nursing related. Just my opinion though. It would be nice to get of school earlier.
  4. Nurses Book Clubs?

I just checked out the site. It sounds great! How many books are you required to purchase after the introductory agreement? I looked all over the site but couldn't find that particular information.
  5. Studying?

Does anybody here actually LIKE studying? My daughters think it must be an "age thing" because now at 42, I LOVE studying. I get a kick at seeing how much I can actually learn. I read three chapters of Anatomy today and class hasn't even begun ye...
  6. Thanks! The link that Cynthiann posted sounds like what she was talking about. She said they pay about $1100 a month just to cover living expenses while you go to school. I just assumed it was a state of Kentucky thing. It looks like I already mi...

  8. I'm in Kentucky and one of the nursing students who attended my CPR class mentioned something about the state of Kentucky paying tuition, books and living expenses for nursing students. The only thing you have to do is work at one of their pre-picke...
  9. school recommendations...

Actually...I thought the 2 year program WAS the intensive RN program. That's why I'm taking it in three years! Of course, if you already have a college degree, you probably already finished your pre-reqs.
  10. Fall semester is nearing!

It's been 20 years since I've been in school. However, I just completed the Medicaid Nurse Aid program and the CPR class for healthcare providers. This fall I'm taking only prereqs: Algebra, Spanish, Writing, and A & P 1. I've enjoyed school th...
  11. Old Conviction? Dashed hopes?

I guess you know that I've been worried sick about this. Well, I found more info online, at my school's website actually, about the Kentucky BON policy of licensure. It actually had MORE info than the brochure the state sent me. Apparentally, I ...
  12. Old Conviction? Dashed hopes?

oops! I posted that part about a crime being exponged for the sake of another poster who said that something was exponged off of HER record. My record is still intact. I guess I'll just do whatever I have to do. And cross those bridges when I c...
  13. Old Conviction? Dashed hopes?

Okay! I contacted the KY BON! They sent me a document detailing their policies about applicants with criminal convictions. If anyone would like a copy, pm me your email address and I'll send it to you. It's five pages of faqs. Someone mentioned ...
  14. Opinions please, am I too old??

I'm sorry. I misread and thought you had been personally dealing with chronic depression, alas my previous post. Sounds like you will make a great nurse! Btw, I also have three daughters and my youngest will turn 15 in July! They are 19, 17, and ...
  15. Any other over 35 students?

Actually, I'm still teaching....even while I'm taking the NA class. I have to teach Algebra this morning before going to my NA class. I figure it's not much different than if I was going to school and working. I can be a little more flexible thoug...
