  1. PRN pay vs. full time pay?

I think I lucked out at my hospital. We have different levels of PRN depending on the hours you commit. I currently am $40/hr and because I work full time hours, I am eligible for benefits (medical, dental, vision, 403b match). I only don't accrue PT...
  2. Man... I couldn't find it in me to do that. During my series of interviews for several new grad positions at my hospital, I had accepted my current position in PCU. Two days later I get a call for an interview with the same hospital's mother-baby dep...
  3. Nervous New Student..trying to get prepared! HELP!

I liked using binders when I was in nursing school. We would get power points posted on our school website, so I'd print them out and if I wanted to write additional information, I'd have loose leaf paper for that (or I write on the back of the power...
  4. PearsonVue trick

And I'm not sure how your state board does it but my and my nursing buddies showed up on the Secretary of State's license verification website the next day. You can pay for "early" results, but SOS site is as official as it gets :)
  5. PearsonVue trick

Same thing happened to me last year as well. Had 75 questions, felt like i was failing, cried in a Target parking lot, and went home to try the PVT and got the good pop up. And here I am today, an RN, just as you are one too. Congratulations! :)
  6. We are required to do our own morning lab draws (regardless if the patient has a PICC) on my unit. I call down to the lab and phlebotomists all the time with questions because I know they are the experts in that field of medicine and I am grateful fo...
  7. "Nurses Are So Mean"

I must be blessed because almost every person (except for one nurse) I work with has been nothing but helpful. They were always asking to see if I was okay, especially the first couple of months after I got off orientation. Now they don't care about ...
  8. DAR Focus/Problem Help

Lol understandable :) I was always taught, when in doubt, think ABCs and safety! Good luck on your assignment :)
  9. DAR Focus/Problem Help

I think the main focus/problem would be safety as well. The missing picture seems to just put the safety issue into the light. Clutter and moving furniture around definitely poses safety hazards and the potential for injury.
  10. Took NCLEX RN today...

I definitely felt the same you did! I left the testing center and cried In the parking lot, thinking I failed it. Apparently I heard that feeling like you bombed is pretty accurate since we miss roughly 50% of the questions (which was NOT a reassurin...
  11. Bodies Exhibit....have you been?

I went almost four years ago, a month before I started nursing school. It was an eye opening experience and I had really enjoyed it. Definitely made me more hyped up for nursing school! :)
  12. Nurse: 'I was fired for refusing flu shot'

Wow. Our hospital does ask for everyone to get their flu shots, but we are given a choice: If we don't get it, we are required to wear a mask when in patient contact for the duration of the flu season for our hospital (Oct-Apr). But at least we aren'...
  13. Yikes, that's crazy! I don't think that's fair for anyone. I am about 4 months off orientation and I just recently did two shifts of orienting our new nurses (no students for me since I'm night shift). But my main role was just to get them used to th...
  14. My NCLEX Journey!! :)

    Congrats!!! :)
  15. RN, BSN student hoping to work in the ED after graduation

Hi there, Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville hires quite a bit of new grads in the ER. I think the most recent residency group in August had about 15-20 (and they hired a total of around 60 new grads hospital wide). I also have a few friends at...
