Unfortunately, there is nothing that you can do about it unless you belong to a union or have a contract signed by both you and the administration stating that you were hired to work only 12 hour shifts. I have been part of administration and someti...

  8. Tired of Pain! Any suggestions?????

If you can get in to see a neurologist, they can probably get you in to see a pain mgmt specialist associated with them. I have chronic back pain and am seeing a pain mgmt specialist associated with the neuro group who treated me for my back proble...
  9. First CATH

GAstudent, the older they are, the harder they are to hit. Don't worry. You will soon be able to get it in every time. Also make sure that you have extra good lighting when trying to insert the cath.
  10. Shortest time you held a nursing job?

I worked in a hospital after I graduated from RN school for 3½ years. The first six months were ok, not good, ok. The last three years were pure hell, but I do not like change and stayed and let it cause severe health problems which took eight mon...

Although I last worked on Dec 19, 2001, I have been a nurse for 26 years and I do count all my nursing years, LPN and RN. I am now disabled due to failed back syndrome and miss nursing terribly.
  13. Emergency: Need Response Asap!

It is not possible to nurse safely with staffing like that. Do they put them to bed before 7pm? Do they have no night nourishments or activities? Something is not right here. Run for the hills.
  14. Get you a pocket notebook and jot down notes in it about the residents. Use it each day. You will have something to help when giving meds and when charting.
