There is about 2500 employees. Rather or not it is due to the ACA, I think companies are using the ACA as an excuse to cut jobs as well as pay. It's too bad.

I can say with the company I work for it has already happened. RNs have gotten a 5.00 an hour pay decrease, LPNs and CNAs 3 dollar an hour decrease. Not to mention: dietary, maintenance, social workers, ect. all lost hourly wages. This, the company s...
Another great little gift idea is mini hand sanitizer from maybe bath and body. Lord knows we go through a lot of that! They usually have great sales around this time.
I work in LTC and I think the residents would love this! Of course, the costumes should not interfere with work. The patients' days are so similar...sleep, eat, a little activity, eat, sleep....ect. I think holidays are special days for them and bri...
The community college I went to made me take a 5 credit biology class because I didn't take it in HS. It took a semester, and I actually enjoyed it! I think it helped in my A&P classes too. For LPN we were not required to take chemistry, which is...
Yes I was embellishing a tad bit. I knew nurses worked hard, but you never know just how hard until you're a nurse too. I just wanted to give all nurses a big shout out because this is not an easy field. :)
Have a box of tissues in the car for your ride home! Ha...maybe that's just me. I too, am a new nurse who started working in September and I can honestly say its the hardest thing I have ever done. I have days when I feel like I got this and I am a g...

That actually sounds perfect. I know I cannot physically, mentally, or emotionally handle working a 40 hr week in nursing. My husband thinks Im just being a diva of a sort, but anyone who's in nursing can testify to how challenging it is to the mind ...
Hello fellow nurses! I love my job and am so happy for it, but it is the hardest thing I've ever done. I'm so fortunate to have the job I have and I regret all the times when I was a CNA I thought to myself "look at that nurse sitting there, stuffin...

Hmmm thats a toughie. Sounds like you didn't really like either one. Maybe since you will be part-time the teen rehab won't stress you out as much?!? Otherwise, I would say try other avenues. The thing with nursing is there is ALWAYS politics, so I h...
Wow your story is so heartfelt. I feel for you and your struggles. I personally think that you should try LTC especially since your heart is in geriatrics. Yes some places aren't as nice as others, but with your experience I'm sure you'd get your pic...

I work in LTC in Wisconsin and make 25.00/hr. The only benefit I get is PTO, no health insurance, which is okay for me because i'm under my husbands plan. I'm a new LPN, just graduated this past May so I consider myself very fortunate.
I'm sorry, but I learned in nursing school that its the NURSES job to verify abnormal vitals. So even if you did what she said, she should have been the one to recheck the BP, not you.
