  1. In nursing uniform during a traffic copstop!

I'm kinda surprised that on a message board where most are CONSTANTLY preaching about how important it is to be honest at work, many of you accept that it's ok to be "let off" of a ticket(if it's justified) just because you are a nurse. Interesting. ...
  2. pt vs staff abuse

You must be so frustrated. Sorry to hear about your troubles. I think you should get a lawyer as the others have suggested. Also press charges. At this point it can't hurt.
  3. Doing away with 12 hour shifts?

My facility just got a new DON and she is talking about doing away with the twelve hour shifts. She's going to lose a lot of nurses.
  4. Borrowing Narcs in LTC, ok?

Hey, I know it's wrong. That's why I stated it in the way I did. I think it's totally wrong. What do you want me to do? I stay away from it. I need my job. I'm not going to leave a place every time some easy come easy go DON makes a bad decisio...
  5. Borrowing Narcs in LTC, ok?

I tend to stay away from it. Anyway, my facility has had 5 DONs/administrators in the past 3 years. Some good, some bad. The ones at this time are bad. I'm waiting them out. I've been with this company (hospital then transfer to rehab) for over 10 ye...
  6. Best-smelling liquid meds!

I always thought liquid tegretol had a pleasant aroma.
  7. laws for orientation?

It's legal. You have been licensed by the state and are deemed competent to perform duties within your states LPN scope of practice. Are you working for an agency? That's not a good idea at all. If you are going to work at long term care facilit...
  8. Borrowing Narcs in LTC, ok?

In LTC it is usually not acceptable to 'borrow" any meds even non-narcs, we usually do it anyway. As far as the other issue- I don't know what to tell you-that's just the way it is. I pretty much stay away from it.
  9. Borrowing Narcs in LTC, ok?

We are not allowed to write "borrowed". We have to write "wasted" and get a co-signer. Anyway, this doesn't come up too often as my DON has a big bag of narcs hidden in the office that we can just go in and get anytime we want! Yes, that's right f...
  10. Middlesex County Vo tech LPN program

WHAT!!?? You took the entire program at Middlesex and it was not accredited. How the heck do they let that happen? Do they lie to you? OMG, that really stinks. Anyway, how's Monmouth County Voc. these days? I graduated a loooooooonnnnnnnnnnnngg...
  11. Is Chemistry really needed?

I wouldn't take it if I didn't have to. Since you already took it 5-6 years ago, maybe you could get the CLEP study guide and review it. Honestly, if it's not required, don't worry about it.
  12. Supporting charities through work

The large hospital system I work for asks us once a year to donate to THEM:angryfire. Yeah, right.
  13. My week (please tell me it's over!)

Wow, you are really starting the year off with a bang! Maybe it's a sign that the rest of the year will be smooth sailing. Anyway, I know how it feels, I had to leave work early on Sunday eve. My daughter (13) was at a party:hbsmiley: and I got a c...
  14. dont know what to do....

I have never heard of a nurse losing her license because she/he sent someone out who didn't need to be sent out. Now not sending someone out who needs to be...that can get you in trouble. I always say, When in doubt, send 'em out!
  15. Asing this question again...........

:icon_roll I was going to say I'm 31 but I have posted my true age above-oh well. Anyway, I'm completing my prereqs for the lpn-rn program. I've been an lpn for 16 years and it's time to move forward. I will be done with the prereqs in August(i h...
