  1. Vent: MD visitors who are NOT intensivists

One word...HIPPA!! If they are not in the direct care of the patient I would not get into specifics. Especially if the doctor is not even on the case. Where I work the pulmonologist are pretty territorial and if a non critical care MD is pushing too ...

  3. Magnet - Turnoff For Anyone Else?

Can the nurses complain to the Magnet committee? I too work at a so called Magnet hospital, however, they can care less about us. Night shift did not even see a Magnet person!!
  4. Turning Patients

Wow I never thought so many people felt the way I did!:rckn: It's not even worth trying to get these patients to change their habits when they don't care about their own health. The "I didn't know a double quarter with extra cheese, super size fries ...
  5. Staffing Ratios Condemn Patients To Inferior Care

I work in ICU, when we have more than 2 patients everyone can see that it becomes a dangerous situation!! I wish Georgia had this law. Let's cut staff and give more critical patients to less nurses. Smart idea!!! :hdvwl:
  6. Turning Patients

I know this sounds cruel but has anybody not turn a morbidly obese patient because they could not get help? I know we are suppose to be the patient care advocates, however, we need to watch for out health first and I am not willing to risk a severe b...

  9. NCLEX studying/book help and Kaplan??

While some people may not like Kaplan review (to me the book was pointless) the only reason I passed boards the second time was because of the Q bank! The hospital paid for the Herse Review (which sucked) so I used Kaplan and believe me it works!! Go...

  11. Pharmacy school?

Well graduated 4 months ago and just passed boards!! Priorities have shifted so I feel that since I have my first job in ICU I'm going to work there a couple of years (around 4-5) then apply to CRNA school. Still have the pharmaceutical background, ...

  13. Pharmacy school?

Thanks for the advice; I feel that pharmacy school is the way for me. I will work for a year to get my basics done, hopefully in ICU, and then finish my prereqs. I was pre-Pham before BSN. Only a couple of classes, especially Organic, but as an older...
  14. Pharmacy school?

I have to say I know pharmacy school is no cake walk, however, I feel this is right for me. I will work for a year or so to get my nursing skill, then take the prereqs while working. Then roll the dice. At least I'll have a decent job if I don't get ...
  15. Pharmacy school?

Thanks for the advice. I know it won't be easy...but 5 years (including prereqs) is still worth 30 years of working in a field I like. I want to work as a RN for a couple of years, while taking the prereqs around my work schedule.
