  1. Nursing Students Shafted

Can we please end this thread... or at least change it's direction. My intent was to boost morale amongst those nursing students that are having a tough time; it wasn't to attack other professions. This isn't an accounting site. This isn't a computer...

  3. Nursing Students Shafted

While your list of accomplishments is most impressive, I was comparing 2 year degrees. I agree with you that at a university level computer science is quite rigorous, but at the community college level I could get a degree in computers in my sleep....

  5. Nursing Students Shafted

Darn:( I knew I should have gotten my degree in "Underwater Basket Weaving" It would look so good on my resume.:)
  6. Nursing Students Shafted

After reading several messages here I've come to the conclusion that we nursing students have to work twice as hard as someone who is getting their degree in another field like accounting, computers, business, basket weaving...etc. Take for instance ...
  7. Exams

Well first thing don't wait for the last minute:) Things that have helped me. 1) All instructors test differently. On that first test try to determine the instructors "style". 2) Take your time. If you get 1 hour to take the test spend the entire ...
  8. RN School is tough !!

Mario, Don't give up!!! I'm 45 and in my 1st semester of nursing school and I didn't have any medical experience before being dumped into my first clinical rotation. I was even nervous about making the bed correctly:) Fortunately the school I att...
  9. acidious vs alkalosis (forgive the spelling)

I think you mean "acidosis":) It's really difficult to make a "dummy" version of the definition. But acidosis is when the body's pH level drops below 7.35 If you want a good book that explains all this I suggest "Fluids & Electrolytes made Incr...
  10. I hate A&P!!!!!!

Now I feel weird... but I liked A&P It may seem like a lot of work but stick with it. If you don't get all A's so what... your doing your best. Just because you can't remember all of the cranial nerves doesn't mean that you won't make a great...
  11. I REALLY need your opinion of these schools!

Wayne State University - Michigan Has a HUGE medical campus. Great learning experience. The only problem is Detroit is not a typical "college city" if you don't live near campus(availability is scarce and expensive) it is a real pain to find parking...
  12. Tests and grades post?

At my school you get two chances and if you fail there is a mandatory class (7weeks - 6hrs/week). I can relate to the "Bonehead" mistakes :) My first try I failed because of those darn bonehead mistakes. My second try I just tried to be a calm as p...
  13. Disecting a cat-why?

When I took A&P we did a cat also. The instructor tolds us that a cat has most of the organs located in the same areas as a human. As to why there is a 4:1 ???? Seems like it would be kind of hard to learn. If you want to have the best learning...
  14. I'm sure this has been asked before, but sure would like some input. To ask my question I must first relate this experience(which is kind of long... sorry) I'm a 45 yo male in my first semester of nursing. On the second day of my clinical rotation ...
  15. ??? For older/Nontraditional Students/Grads

I'm a 45 yo male with no previous experience in the medical field and I'm in my first semester of nursing. I think that I'm having an easier time than the rest of my fellow classmates because of my life experiences. Remember that doing well in nurs...
