LOVED, LOVED, LOVED the post. I too can relate to all the things you went through for your education. Many times, the only thing that kept me going was my son and the fact I wanted a better life for both of us. Congrats on everything, and enjoy ho...

I have a paper due this Thursday and am required to interview a RN nurse in the OR. I do not know any OR nurses so I could really use some help on this paper please! Anything will help. I have a couple quick questions: 1.) Discuss this specific role ...
  9. Poll: Does your O.R. have RN's working 11pm-7am?

yep, we have that shift. I used to work it too, and I'm thankful every day that I am now off it for good. We're a level 2 trauma center, so someone is always in-house, as well as CV and neuro call teams, with general team backup call.
  10. What would make you say "I could never do that"

prisoners, burns, peds and med-surg, in that order. God bless those nurses who work in those areas. Not really excited about labor/delivery or postpartum either.
  11. Thinking about OR....

Can someone clue me in to the duties for scrub/circulating, etc. Also, do you like OR? Did you start out on a med/surg and move to OR, and was it a good choice? I'm a circulator in a fairly busy OR. I love it, and I've done nothing else but OR. I was...
  12. All I Want For Xmas

I would love to have my sister home from Iraq, and a house of my own, instead of an apartment. I'll take my sister home over the house in a heartbeat, though. Merry Christmas to all!
  13. Forced Blood Draw? (DUI situation)

Interesting posts, everyone. As I was reading these, I remembered when my aunt was pulled over for a suspected dui. She was driving home after a dance, and the wind was blowing at about 35-45mph. She was driving a big SUV, and was pulled over becau...
  14. Nursing school graduation to OR?

I went straight to the OR with no med-surg experience, and I love it. Most OR's have at least 6 months of training/precepting, so you'll be well prepared. Go for it, and enjoy!
  15. Just When You Think You've Seen It All....

Isn't that the whole point of the colored bracelet? I understood blue bands to be the universal "do NOT use this arm" signs.
