  1. About 15 very part time years. I thought I was the only one!!! I had my own business for 17 years and raised two boys, now in their 20's. Now, I feel relaxed enough to apply to the program. Relaxed is really not the word, but at least a little bit le...
  2. Too Many Crabby Nurses!!

I agree. I was a phlebotomist before a pre-nursing major. The floor nurses were so rude to me and the patients, it was incredible. There were always 2 or more patients in restraints, when I was on shift. When a patient had a question for me and I pas...
  3. Microbiology - Summer 2005

I am taking Micro M-Thurs 9:30-2:20. It just started on 6/20. It is an exhausting class. We will be tested on 5 chapters every week, plus labs. The instructor seems sympathetic that we are in a fast track summer program, so he tries to help us out. R...
  4. BLS/ CPR cert

I have to admit that it is harder than years ago. I took it through the AHA and they will now teach & certify you to use a defibrillator. I hope I don't end up shocking myself!
  5. Tell me about your instructors from @#$

My physio instructor ranks high on the charts for being impossible. He failed 80% of the class. He would lecture on glycolysis and would test you on DNA? I could go on forever about him, but it would take pages. He really dislikes teaching physio, he...
  6. Nursing is skairing me now!

I think you should research the medical field before you make it your life long profession. Really, you have to be passionate about nursing. I was a medical assistant and phlebotomist for 10 years, but decided I wanted to do more. The medical field i...
  7. For those of u that took Chem and A&P...

My advice would be take a recent Biology class that includes Glycolysis, Kreb cycle, etc. You will need to memorize it for your physio class. Chemistry is a must before physio as it involves alot of chemistry knowledge. Take it slow and Good Luck!
  8. Poll: what area of nsg will you go into?

I like the different activity that goes on in the ER. Our ER hosp does not have a trauma dept, so it does not receive critically injured or ill patients. I worked as a phlebotomist in that hospital about 10 years ago and so far I haven't changed my ...
  9. How was your A&P experience?

My anatomy teacher had us do testing on computer. It was questions from the book and you could not pass to the next level until you reached a 90%. It made us learn, because it was repetitive. It was an enormous amount of work, but worth it. I am in p...
  10. Working while in nursing school...

Our nursing school frowns on anyone that is employed while in the nursing program. It would be hard to work as class starts at 7:30-4:00, homework can run until 1:00am in the morning. I know every school is different, our school is very strict as i...
  11. How is everyone's weather

O.K. How about this? Light snow with an earthquake on a day with a full moon in California... You tell me what is going on with these strange events? I hate earthquakes!!!
  12. How many of us are over 35?

I am a newbie on the board and I am 46! I am ready to enter nursing school. I have waited until my son was old enough and hopefully my husband will be able to feed himself for two years. I am confident about getting through school, but worry about my...
