How to NOT interview for your RN/LPN job!

I felt that way a little bit too, especially when the OP wrote 'my patients'. I agree that we should all dress professional for an interview but diversity in the workplace is also important and a lot less boring.

Helped - I had fallen and couldn't get up

I am so glad you were able to get help. I've taken care of patients who had been down at home for DAYS. Agh.

    Vent about toiletting patients

I agree with the fact that as an RN you have work that only you as the nurse can do. CNA's cannot pass your meds or do your charting, call the doctor etc. So of course we all help out when we can but there are times you need to focus on your 'nurse ...

Name of unit ER patients are transferred to

All of our units do cardiac monitoring.

Name of unit ER patients are transferred to

Most units in my hospital admit from the ER, where they go depends on what type of patient. We have a short stay/obs unit that mostly takes ER admits and extended recovery patients from day surgeries. The type of patient admitted there tends to be S...

Chose med surg like I'm supposed to, but really unhappy.

Yes, I agree with the other responses. A year is a respectable amount of time to stay in any job before a transfer. My hospital limits transfers to once every 6 months. Plus you will gain invaluable experience.

    low GPA

I'm sorry I cannot recommend any nursing programs that are 'easy' to get in to or make it through for that matter. My best advice to you is to look at why you aren't doing well. Do you need to get a tutor or extra help in certain subjects? Perhaps yo...

    low GPA

I'm not 'pretending' anything. Many people struggle in school or in certain subjects for a variety reasons. Nursing is so much more than 'a science related field'. Some of my classmates from school that struggled the most are now some my most respe...

    low GPA

If you don't mean to be than don't. Not every good nurse was great in school and not everyone that is great in school becomes a good nurse.
  10. It is a major issue on so many levels. The biggest one being the nurses who are witnessing this are not following policy regarding medication administration and therefore putting their asses (licenses) on the line in the event of an adverse outcome.
  11. OP, I strongly encourage you to protect yourself in this situation. Nobody else is going to. For starters meds are given per protocol, so if you witness your patient not taking them you need to take them back and waste them appropriately, otherwise...

Don't talk bad about your patients

Ugh, I agree! That is the worst. Shake it off and have a good day damnit! We all deal with it.

NCLEX - It must be all a myth.

Congrats to you for passing! May you continue with the determination and fortitude to soldier through in your nursing career. 😊

Would You Stop to Provide Medical Care?

Like others have mentioned I would only stop of no one else was on the scene yet. The other day i was the first person to come across a man who had crashed his motorcycle on the country road near my home. I called 911 and made sure he wasn't hemorra...
