I live in northern va between two hospitals that I dont really know much about. Potomac hospital and Prince william county hospital are both close. I was wondering if anyone works or have worked at these hospitals and if you could tell me about your experience there. Also about there orientation programs for new graduates and starting wage. I know there are many Inova hospitals in NOVA but from where i live it would make my commute longer than I would like. thanks
its hard to say it depends on how you were feeling. if you could have done the job you should have gone as long as you werent wearing a fever. since you work on the oncology unit you could have just done good handwashing and wore a mask.
I graduated with a BSN in 2006. took and passed boards that summer. worked for like 2 months (found out i was pregnant) and was on bedrest for most of my pregnancy so didnt really work. I had my daughter may of 2007 and am taking her first year off work. Now that she's almost a year old i'm looking to go back but feel lost. What are employers going to think of me graduating in 06 and not really working as a nurse yet? Is it going to be hard for me to find a job? I feel like no one is going to want to hire me.
I was just wondering if anyone knows of good apartments or houses for rent near fairfax hospital. I will be starting there soon and would like to move closer. I do have a dog so please keep that in mind when suggesting places. I would like to be in a safe affordable neighbor hood. Thanks for any input you may have.
My aunt has agreed to buy me a stehoscope for my graduation/passing nclex present. my question is what kind should i get? I know Littmann are supposed to be good but is that the best one to get? please let me know what you think. :wink2:
I was a CNA before i went to school to become a RN. I think it was very helpful. esp. b/c you learn how to interact with people and there families. ( I was shy when i first started)
You can become a CNA very easily. I know many nursing homes will pay you to attend classes to become certified.
hope this helps
I'm also a new grad-from Alexandria va. Inova hospitals are real big around here. I just accepted a position at one. Its worth looking up since most hosptials in the area are merged with Inova
Congrats to you IpnQt:Melody:
It was a number i found on the Va board of nursing website.
Well I took the Nclex yesterday for the second time. The computer shut of at 127. This morning I called the automated number and I found out that I PASSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! X100000000000 All the hard work finally paid off
Thanks for all the encouragement
I know that until i pass the nclex i couldnt work as a nurse beings i've failed once. But just want to know where i could apply with a bachelor of science degree even if i wasnt working "nursing" I just want to use my degree to feel my schooling was worth it
Thank you! I can use all the help I can get.
I retake the Nclex tomorrow. I'm so nervous and i'm trying to stay positive. I've been studying alot and feel more confident than last time. I've been praying that i will indeed this time pass-and I hope some of you will also say a prayer for me. Thanks
