  1. CCRN certification

Wondering if anyone else has thoughts on this? I've seen other posts that say the hours must be in the ICU, however the website clearly states hours must be in the care of "acute and/or critically ill". My experience is med surg/tele, but my employer...
  2. Chart Audits -- I Couldn't Make This Up!

Also important to emphasize in your charting when a person appears completely a+o, and ringing appropriately for assist. You never know when they'll do something off the wall later! I had a patient once who appeared completely a+o all night suddenly ...
  3. Please Help, please help!!

Thank you all for your comments - I have been struggling with a similar decision. I did not realize it was possible for a FNP to become geri certified. This eases my mind since the most convenient school for me to attend only offers the FNP track!
  4. Entry into Practice: Direct Entry MSN Programs

I'm not sure if you are asking about educational credits earned in a master's entry program or the end degree and license? As far as a final degree and license goes - if the program is accredited and you complete the MSN program and successfully pass...
  5. Master's entry drop out

Yes I see what you mean. My comment was a little too vague - don't want to mislead anyone.
  6. Master's entry drop out

Not sure what to say, ME did reciprocate my MA license & I know I'm not the first. I do know the BON here has only recently changed the requirements of it's master's entry programs to require a BSN instead of the certificate of completion which M...
  7. Master's entry drop out

I was able to reciprocate my license from MA to ME - they look at your license, not your education in that case.
  8. Entry into Practice: Direct Entry MSN Programs

DE= direct entry or master's entry, a bridge program for students with a non nursing BS to enter into a nursing MS program. Usually an accelerated RN component (phase 1) and then entry into a regular MSN program (phase 2).
  9. Master's entry drop out

Hmmm, I know this is an old post but I have experience with this so maybe I can at least help future master's entry drop outs. I dropped out of a DE/Master's entry program and have been pretty successful finding jobs at community hospitals. The teach...
  10. Entry into Practice: Direct Entry MSN Programs

I am posting to offer 2 things: 1. the perspective of a DE MSN dropout (where are they now?) and 2. advice to the ADN who recently posted that they had a long road ahead to advanced practice (I encourage you to search for a RN to NP bridge program. I...
  11. Your Employer - Are You In For The Long-Haul?

In my situation the only way for me to get a significant pay increase IS to jump ship. I love working at my hospital, but I went into a lot of debt to become a nurse, and my current employer doesn't offer a very competitive pay rate. It's sad really,...
  12. Helpful Tips for the Nurse Traveler

I read somewhere about a website where travelers can post reviews of their employers. However I've been scouring the web and can only find the UltimateNurse site reviews. I know there's another site that probably has more info - anyone know it? THAN...
  13. Has anyone done an assignment in Exeter New Hampshire?

I currently work at Exeter Hospital. I love it. Started as a new grad (after a bad experience somewhere else) and have had tons of support. I'm in my second year now and still love it. Only drawback is the pay - but if you're traveling you don't have...
