In the surrounding counties you have a plethora of LPN-RN programs available at the CC level and Temple now has an online RN-BSN available as well. LPN-RN-BSN is a smart route for your family.
I signed up for the upcoming 2 weekend programme at Perfect CNA, 10-2 in Jax I'm also going to start watching the CNA skills videos posted on here to get a good start.
oh wow! Talk about synchronicity, I was going to make this very thread. I found http://www.perfectcna.com/ and was going to take the course. Thanks for posting!

Great thread, it's good to get updated and continuing threads so nurses can weigh a fair salary. While the OP may not garner salary insight from all posts, some of us in the cities/states of answering posters can glean and vet valuable information.

I'm hoping to get into the Feb 23 CNA class and it will wrap up April 17 or so, it's mostly online and then 1 week of training and 1 week of clinicals in the nursing home.

36k seems excessive for an LPN programme!! That's an entire year's salary unless you have 2 jobs. Orlando Tech is one option as well as a programme in Kissimmee by TECO http://www.teco.osceola.k12.fl.us/programs/health/nursing.aspx
