Hi! Will be starting to work on a long term psych unit, soon. I was wondering if patient response is better if the RN wears scrubs or street clothes and the reasoning behind it. I am allowed to wear either.
  4. What is the best way to pick an area of expertise?

All of the previous advice is great. In my case, I painted myself into a corner with psychiatric and substance abuse nursing. Jobs in that sector do not seem as plentiful as in med-surg nursing. If I had it to do again, I would keep my hands in me...

  14. Any "snow birds" out there???

Hi! All! Considering becoming a "snow bird" from MA to FL in winter. Main specialty is detox and psych. Are there any places that accept short term placement during the winter? Can't do clinical nursing any more due to some health problems. Any other...
  15. Hearing BP's

Hi! I was taught that another way of verifying the systolic number was to palpate the radial artery while the pressure is coming down. You should feel the beat at the same time you hear the first beat. If you are limber enough, you can do both at the...
