  1. OK lets get down and dirty...

I was totally unprepared for clinicals--but that's okay, that's why we have clinicals! I have to say, though, that I haven't learned too much in clinicals, either, but I still have a ways to go. As part of my program we have to do co-op in the summer...
  2. ** Any Class of '09ers out there?? Post here!!!

Hi, Laura! Welcome and congrats on starting nursing school soon! :balloons: I too waited a long time to do nursing school but totally don't regret it! I just (yesterday!) finished year two of four and love it. Yes, it's hard, but totally doable so do...
  3. Started my first IV today

Congrats! It's a great feeling--I did my first about a month ago and I'm still grinning about it! Such a rite of passage for nurses. (Have to say, though, that the reaction from my family was "Ewwww!") Keep up the great work!
  4. Spring break!!!

:monkeydance::monkeydance::monkeydance: Woo hoo!!! I'm officially on spring break, and it's not a day too soon!! Anybody else on spring break? What're you gonna do? As for me, I'm probably spending most of it catching up on stuff from the first hal...
  5. What is actual nursing school like?

I'm also in a 4 yr program--am now in year 2. I was nervous going into the actual nursing classes and clinicals--and some days, I'm STILL scared! The thing that gets me through nursing school every time I get frustrated and want to quit are my fello...
  6. alternate...

Good attitude, jesa! I was #8 on the waiting list for my program which was only accepting 35--and was shocked when I got in! Don't get too discouraged--people are always changing their minds or don't get their paperwork in on time, stuff like that. ...
  7. How old is too old?

I'm in the oldies group too! I'm not a nurse yet--just two years into my BSN--but I can tell you that going back to school was one of the best decisions I've made! Good luck to you!
  8. Doubting myself...help!

Hi, Allison! :welcome: I'm so sorry you're struggling right now, but I think I can relate. While I don't HATE clinicals, I'm definitely feeling out of place and unsure of myself. In fact, everyone in my class has been joking about giving it all up a...
  9. Which program to apply to (LPN vs RN)?

I'm in a BSN program so can't tell you from personal experience, but I have a friend that went the LPN to RN route (not really because she wanted to but because the only school she could get into only offered that option). Turned out she really liked...
  10. clinical stress

I know it's a lot of pressure not to get sick. My daughter had the sniffles last week and I felt like fumigating the whole house! A bunch of students at clinical today were getting sick, so I just held my breath as much as I could. Good luck on kee...
  11. Hi, Scrubz! First of all, I'm a total book geek, so the more the better. My feeling is that sometimes I may not be able to understand something in the textbook that's been assigned, but if I look at another book with a different perspective, I may ca...
  12. WOW! I'm SOOOOOOO Much OLDER!

Hi! I can SOOO relate! I know a lot of programs have a large number of nontraditional students but mine only had one--ME. Most of the rest were right out of high school with a few in their mid to later twenties, but still at least fifteen years young...
  13. personal statement proof-read/re-edit request

Hi, If you haven't found help yet, I'd be willing. I use to be a freelance proofreader and am a pretty good writer. Let me know! Lori
  14. ** Any Class of '09ers out there?? Post here!!!

Hi, guys! I start Monday, and I totally DON'T feel prepared! I had so many great things I was going to accomplish over the break--doing some prereading, etc.--and I've done NONE of it. Hopefully I'll get more enthused after we actually start! Mond...
  15. jaded with school

Good job on not letting one bad instructor ruin your plans. I've had a couple lousy ones, too, but fortunately not in the nursing dept. Hopefully this semester is better!
