    Unsafe situation LTC

When I was working LTC we had a similar situation with a volatile resident. Of course, with staffing in LTC being poor on the best of days there is simply no way to provide full-time 1:1 supervision to the difficult resident. Sadly the 1:1 care...

Two job offers....trying to make a decision

Curious since it's been a couple of months since your post OP...which did you choose? My vote would also have been to take the job 5 minutes from home.

Choosing a Nursing School - I have Many Questions

I'm sorry but 200k for a Master's degree when you already hold a BS is insane. There's no way that tuition cost offers a good return on investment. It's over double the cost of a couple of options the you already listed as potentials.

    Old or new email address

If you've been using your NameRN@ email professionally it's going to be easier to just keep it instead of transitioning to a new email. If you decide on a new email you'll have to set up a mail forwarding rule or update all your professional contacts...

    Probation Nurses

Depending on stipulations finding employment is not impossible. Even with a no controlled substance contact stipulation, some employers are friendly to nurses under probation contracts.

    Absent Nurse Manager/Perianesthsia Director

Unless you love your job and are willing to ride it out awhile to see if this manager stays employed I'd start looking for another position. There's no way I'd put up with that too long.

    What made you quit?

I left a job I expected I would retire at partly because I was passed over for a promotion I fully expected to get. Mostly because I found out shortly after this that despite having 25 years of employment there a brand new grad was making literally $...

Bad pop up and charged $200

While Pearson Vue used to deny the "trick" even existed now they accept the fact that test takers not only use the trick but that it's pretty reliable. Not 100% but pretty reliable. So yes, the odds are great that you did indeed fail this time. Sorr...

    NCLEX Time cap

2010 graduate would mean you are 14 years out of school. I doubt you'll be able to sit the NCLEX at this point without at least taking a refresher course, I wouldn't be surprised if you are required to retake the entire course after that much time. ...

    LPN or RN school?

It kind of depends on what programs are available to you and how much determination you have to finish all the requirements for the final degree. One of the PCT's I work with is going the LPN to RN to BSN route. The RN program she is in allows ...

    Fail NCLEX multiple times

If this is not a typo and you truly graduated in 2011 that's a LONG gap between finishing nursing school and taking the NCLEX. If there is a state that will first recognize and accept the school of nursing you attended for license eligibility and sec...

    CA BRN investigation

I agree with seeking out a lawyer who should be able to get this cleared fairly easily. The first mistake on their part was in not testing you at all, they reported a suspicion but have no proof to back it up. Even if they had tested you I assume the...

    Question about RN scheduling

In my area we call this "block" scheduling and the area hospital's refusal to use it is a big part of the reason I've never worked in that setting in 28 years of nursing. I like knowing my schedule, and having a predictable schedule, If I want to s...

    Crusty Old Bats

We still had smoking in the lounge when I started in the LTC in '94. When they stopped that a few years later the residents who smoked were grandfathered in and they made a corner of the dining room their smoking area

    Question regarding corrective action

Well, I can see why you left. That's absurd. How can they possibly expect you to come in and sign a corrective action for an absence on your last day of work? What part of you don't work for them anymore doesn't that manager understand?
