About PixxieDust

PixxieDust has 17 years experience as a LVN.

I have been an LVN for 13 plus years and have enjoyed most of it. I have decided recently to go to school for my RN and hammering through prerequisites now. Being an LVN has had its ups and downs for sure. Overall it is a noble and good profession. One that doesn't get the respect it deserves for reasons most of you know about. I have had to really bite my tongue. The reason for going for my RN is more doors will open to me and I want to continue doing what I am doing. I know that once I get my RN I will NEVER treat an LVN the way I have been treated at times! Some were awesome and some were just the opposite. But I LOVE being a nurse and caring for people. I have been a caretaker in many respects my whole life and can't imagine anything different.

One dose had been given. Yes. But also company policy is that when you sign off on a telephone order or any other order that means you have created a MAR along with it. So therefore if someone goes along and re-does what you have done and makes a mis...
  2. Order transcription

I am aware that the medication order and MAR are two different things. So I transcribed the order onto an order sheet and it was a telephone order. But that’s not the point at all. The point is that I wrote it on the MAR and that is now missing. The ...
  3. Order transcription

I transcribed an order and put it onto the MAR. There was no error in what I did. I stated that in my original post. I signed off on the order naturally because I am the one who took it off. That MAR disappeared and someone else redid it by typing it...
  4. Order transcription

Kitiger, RN- exactly! Thank you. As I stated, I signed off on the order and transcribed on the MAR. The other nurse threw away my titration MAR in the shredder from what I’m thinking. We are a small facility so that’s the only place it could have ...
  5. Order transcription

The other day at work I noticed that an order I took off from a doctor had disappeared out of the MAR. It showed I signed off on it and the page that I had a titrate on was ripped out and someone had typed it instead. I don't know why they did it. I ...
  6. LVN not wanted

Good morning! I wanted to chime in because I have been in your shoes before. I was a nurse 12 years when I started working with MA's. I had been in detox nursing, sub acute, wound care, etc. A good amount of experience! The MA's were not MA's nearly ...
  7. A REAL Nurse

With all due respect Ryan, if it isn't about "WHAT" the nurse wears, then Gucci sounds good to me! I don't mean to be contrary or rude. I just meant that there are all types of nurses. Some deal in patient care, some deal with admin. It doesn't make ...
  8. A REAL Nurse

I think that is great for you that you are actively practicing. But give sis a little bit of credit. Sounds like she has a lot of admin stuff to do! That in itself can be a huge challenge.
