  1. will i get reported to bon?

I would suggest that you utilize the services of an attorney that specializes in practitioner defense. You journey back to patient care will be difficult enough without inadvertently adding to those difficulties.
  2. Advice for a new peds nurse?

Let them be children. Too often we expect them to behave like miniature adults. Always give them the opportunity to demonstrate spontaneity and provide them with appropriate choices. Build solid assessment skills, seek out a mentor, listen to the par...
  3. will i get reported to bon?

Your employer has a legal obligation to report this sort of behavior. If they are negligent in those responsibilities it could severely impact the organization's ability to remain open. Best wishes for your complete recovery and may God watch over yo...
  4. Getting cut short on orientation

Ok, so the first thing that jumped out at me is that you have had 3 preceptors in a matter of 5 weeks. As a former manger I found it beneficial to limit the number of preceptors to one primary and one alternate. This allows for continuity and a true ...
  5. RN to BSN Online

I am starting the RN to BSN online program with Southern New Hampshire University in February 2015. Very affordable and can be completed in about one year. The recruiter that I have been dealing with has been great.
  6. Charge Nurse Pay

It is part of our clinical ladder which makes it difficult to give an amount specific to that role. However, in combination with other activities one can earn anywhere from $1.50 to $5 more than his/her peers.
  7. 8 Hours of CEUs

Thanks for the correction but V- Neck T- Shirt was seeking information regarding opportunities to meet his/her CEU requirements. Both of the websites that I mentioned in my earlier post have a great selection of courses available.
  8. Beard as a male nurse?

Beards are generally accepted in the hospital setting. However, a beard can make it difficult to form an appropriate seal when donning ppe prior to entering an isolation room. Perhaps you should consider a goatee to avoid the problem.
  9. I have been an RN for nearly 14 years. All of that time has been spent in the Pediatric setting (critical care and pacu). In all that time I have never had a day that I did not want to go to work. However, that being said, there have certainly been m...
  10. PICU transition- adult or neonatal 1st?

NICU is an animal all to it's self. If you are unable to start your career in a Pediatric setting then I would suggest the adult ICU as the better of the 2 choices that you have mentioned. As a former manager of a critical care department I would hav...
  11. med/surge or pacu for a new grad

Beware of a PACU that does not expect you to bring a well rounded set of skills to the party. I strongly recommend that you seek out an opportunity in a critical care setting of some sort. PACU is not the place to learn those necessary skill sets.
  12. HELP! Introvert nurse looking into PACU

I recently moved to the PACU from a Pediatric Step down unit. I was definitely feeling the wear and tear of the psychosocial side of the peds critical care setting. In my current role I never have more than 2 patients at any one time and only one pat...
  13. 8 Hours of CEUs

CEU's for ACLS and PALS are only awarded for the initial 2 day class. As an RN at a level 1 trauma center I am required to meet a certain number of trauma CEU's each year. I have found rn.org and traumaed.com to be very helpful. Both offer a nice sel...
  14. Assignment at TMC in Fort Defiance, AZ

I am considering an offer for a 13 week travel position at the IHS facility in Fort Defiance, AZ. Has anyone worked at this facility? Pros and cons?
