  1. Fall risk assessment and transgender pts?

Monday was my first day of nursing school - I've had two days of lecture, and in one of them, we briefly looked over fall risk assessment. I have no idea why gender would be an issue on a fall risk assessment, so yes - it was just a question. Not som...
  2. Fall risk assessment and transgender pts?

Oh dear, somebody is snappy! It was just a question.
  3. Fall risk assessment and transgender pts?

...No, it doesn't. I should've thought about what I was typing. I apologize. Hearing that gender was included in that specific test was just really, really weird - but you're right, this is about safety and not sexual identity. Thanks for taking the...
  4. Fall risk assessment and transgender pts?

    True. Thank you!
  5. Fall risk assessment and transgender pts?

    I agree!
  6. Fall risk assessment and transgender pts?

The Hendrich II Fall Risk Model. My instructor made it clear that every hospital/text book is different, but that's the specific model where I saw a "gender" category.
  7. I feel a bit silly asking this question, but I'm just wondering... I learned today that when assessing for fall risk, one point may be added purely for being male, because statistically, males are more likely to impulsively jump out of bed, be overco...
  8. Nursing School Starting Soon!!

My LPN program begins soon, this week! Although I haven't started yet, I'm surrounded by nursing friends/coworkers, and the one thing I'm continuously told is time management. Putting things off = running out of time = more stress = mental breakdown....
  9. Is your job ever dangerous?

First things first, I apologize if this is a repeat of another thread (I'm really not sure). As is stated in the title, is forensic nursing ever dangerous? Have any of you ever been placed in a scary situation - by patients, crazy family, criminals,...
  10. Med school vs NP? Your plans and opinions?

    1. No need to be snippy, I'm just speculating here. My head isn't in the clouds, I'm very aware of the world around me. People who haven't even begun med school are considering med school - what's your point? 2. I did not say "easier." I said easier ...
  11. I begin nursing school in a couple of months, and I can't help but consider my future options. If I end up enjoying nursing, I would ultimately want to become an NP (I might even be okay with sticking to a specialty and being certified in that area)....
  12. Lazy group members!!!

I know I can't be the only one who always ends up in a lab group/doing a group project with the laziest, most irresponsible students in the room. Maybe I just attract slackers naturally?? It's driving me up the wall! My two group mates never have any...
  13. Is the hard work worth it?

Yep :) I spent a whole year doing clinicals/job shadowing while I was in high school...It's just so different when it becomes a reality.
  14. Is the hard work worth it?

Thanks for taking the time to write that! After I read those questions, there honestly isn't anything else I could picture myself doing. The whole ordeal is just so nerve-racking...
  15. Is the hard work worth it?

Yes, I realize that in general, something that's good is worth fighting for...but although my grades are decent, my stress and emotions are off the charts! I'm just now learning that I can't have the social life or working hours that I want, and that...
