Whipple to ICU?

I am working on appropriate ratios for my post-op surgical floor. Currently we get complex cases like Whipple's ... In your hospital, do these go to ICU or the post-op surcial floor. If on the floor, what is your nursing ratio?

In our hospitals, Whipples start out in the SICU. After 2-3 days, depending on how stable they are, they end up on our floor. They are too complex a patient immediately after surgery to start out on a general floor, IMO.
