Register Today!- Apr 23, '12 by tokmomYes, I bought an accordian binder and am starting to stockpile. I have to have 15 per year for my license and 18 per year for the certification. I don't know with the ANCC, but with the AMSN, 75 of the credits have to be in med/surg and the rest can be professional developement. I'm worried about the med/surg and what really counts. I do a lot of committee work, and have helped develop the ED to Med/Surg flow that took weeks of designing. I'm not sure if all of those count.
What kind of professional involvement do you mean? - Apr 24, '12 by kayernI just renewed my Nurse Executive with ANCC and had way more CEs and options than I needed. I'm sure AMSN I'll be fine, I've presented at their National Conventions and serve as Secretary for my Local Chapter.

I didn't see a local chapter for WA or in my area anyway.I just renewed my Nurse Executive with ANCC and had way more CEs and options than I needed. I would like to have more certifications, just don't know in what, lol. Maybe diabetes, but I need to know what that would mean education wise and even it if exists. - Apr 29, '12 by kayernGo to the National AMSN website and look under chapters. Be innovative..........start one!
- Apr 29, '12 by tokmomQuote from kayernI think I did at one time which makes me think there wasn't one. I would be more than happy to start a chapter if I really knew what they did, lol.Go to the National AMSN website and look under chapters. Be innovative..........start one!
- Apr 29, '12 by kayernChapters promote the speciality of Medical Surgical nursing. Go to the website and contact someone. We have monthly meetings with presentations done by members r/t M/S. We do fundraising, give scholarships for the certification exam as well as off setting the cost of attending the National Convention. We do a one day education seminar with CEs attached. Take your exam and then we'll talk. Good Luck
