Just venting!!

It seems like every shift gets harder and harder! I'm getting older and my body just can't handle this abuse any more!

I'm also going to say nursing is the hardest and most under paid work ever! I'm asking myself why I chose this career. I feel Like it's actually killing me and I can't quit. I am looking for something else tho but people keep telling me "the grass Ain't greener on the other side!". Sigh .

I feel your pain!!! I know that in 10 years I will not be able to handle my patient work load at bedside. I am finishing my BSN will be done this summer and going right into a MSN program. I am looking at the future and job security. I have just took a position as a clinical supervisor, I will be in charge all the time and also will have to do scheduling, reviews, meetings etc. I am looking into management in the future because bedside is so hard on the body and I want to make a difference for the future nurses who wil be doing bedside.

I am a realist, I am in my mid 40's and I don't want to find myself unable to do the job physically so I am planning ahead. The nice thing about nursing is that there are so many different areas you could go into, look at your options and don't feel that you are giving up, sometimes we just have to move on to other areas.
