Don't want to do this anymore

  1. Its just gotten too darned hard, and punative.

In the last 3 months, since joint commission is coming....they took away our "crocs", said an infection control problem because of the holes in the top of the shoes (what about our skin that isn't covered, maybe they should take that away too?), no liquids except in the break room (hence more UTIs because no one has time to stop and drink anything).

I know management is suffering under budget constraints, but we have a clinical "specialist" who spends her days decorating bulletin boards while we are running our legs off. EVERYONE has just about HAD it with this facility..

Patients and family members are barking orders, docs are barking orders, managers are barking at us...it's just too much. on top of all of that we have gone to computer charting, and in the next few weeks we are going to computer charting...all the while they are barking about "no overtime..."

Maybe i'm just getting too old, but in the last year the med/surg unit has taken a nosedive. Too many chiefs and not enough indians...

I hadn't even charted on ANY of my patients by noon yesterday, and someone who used to be a nurse, who is now in charge of a clipboard came to me and said "i checked and in room 48 you didn't document why the patient still needs her central line..." well I hadn't charted on
ANYONE, she said "i still have to write that you didn't chart it..." well NO i DIDN:T chart on it because i hadn't charted on ANYONE, I had 2 nursing home patients transfer out before 10am........but she still had to write it in her notebook, so in 2 months it will be on a bulletin board to show how poorly we are charting.......

it's too much. rant mode off, thanks for listening.

Jacho needs to get a life, that's the most absurd thing I've heard of in a long time.

If they tried to take away my Crocs, I'd have to quit.

Are they a type of shoe? I've heard them refered to here.

Here's a link. Note that they're approved by podiatrists.

they look comfortable and very easy to clean. Jaccho has outlawed them because of the holes?

jhaco hasn't outlawed the crocs, my facility has. my hospital has just gone whack a mole in the last few months. I took a mental health day off today.

Sounds like a crappy day! hope tomorrow will be better. As far as the computer charting does, it takes some getting used to, but it does make it easier once you get practice with it. Good luck!

i just had a really busy day yesterday, usually by at least 9am after meds are passed i get SOME of the charting done, but 2 NH patients transferring before lunch just put me way behind...especially since NONE of the chart had been printed, and DMA6 was still with the case manager, and not in the chart...In a former life, I was a marketing secretary, so I type in the 120-130 range, so that is a breeze...

I just think some folks are spending WAY to much time on things like our CNS doing bulletin boards while the rest of us are busting our butts with 6 patients each. I mean, give the stuff for the bulletin board to one of the volunteers, they would LOVE to have something to do!

I hate computer charting. It takes too long and has too many fields to pass to get to where you want to be. I don't think whoever designed it knew the first thing about nursing.

Sounds like we wrok in the same place, but we dont have computers,, I'm a new grad and its good to hear that its not just me. What is with the drink rules, they tried that at my place too.

You sound burned out and in dire need of a change of scenery. Maybe a change of work venues. Don't make yourself sick over the little things....there are WAY too many other areas of nursing to persue! Good luck and enjoy your mental health day!

Same here. I do wear the Payless version though and they are THE most comfortable shoe I have worn over the years. I have shoes that are so much more expensive and they don't keep my feet as comfy for as long as these do.
