dilantin doses

I had a patient on dilantin 2x a day.

if he is used to getting dilantin at 10am and the second dose at 10pm, what would happen if the 10pm dose was given at 6pm, by accident?

i called the MD on duty and he said the pt should be fine.

what do you guys think?

read up on dilantin, check how long it takes to get a steady state, and the different kinds of dosing schedules.......good luck

I would not worry, the half life of Dilantin is 22 hours. You notified the doctor that was the most important thing.
