FDA to review safety of OTC cold drugs in children
Due to questions about the risks and benefits of over-the-counter cold and cough drugs for children, the FDA has appointed its Nonprescription Drugs Advisory Committee to discuss the use of such drugs by children. The committee is scheduled to meet Oct. 18 and 19; meanwhile, officials stressed that the drugs should not be given to children under 2 unless approved by a doctor. Yahoo!/Associated Press (8/16)
