In any case, a fever shouldn't be looked upon as a bad thing. Fevers get the bodies immune system activated and revvvvved up to fight infection. The problem isn't the fever, it is what is causing the fever.
Tylenol and/or Motrin are fine for fever and body aches, another thing that can bring fevers down is proper hydration. Perhaps, since the patient has been ill, he/she has had poor po intake. I've see IVF work wonders in many cases of fever that doesn't respond well to antipyretics. As long as the liver and kindneys are working, tylenol/motrin are fine.
Ice packs to underarms, groin, back of neck also helps.
