RNAC ASSISTANT

by putzlpn

I have been an RNAC assistant for the last 3 years and enjoy doing it, am also an LPN and was wondering if anyone knows if in the state of Pa if they are changing it to where an RN has to complete them or can an LPN continue to do them yet. Any help would be appreciated.

Since the A in RNAC stands for assessment chances are LPN's won't be allowed to sign since technically LPNs can't assess.

Hi! As an LPN in PA, I was always allowed to do the MDS, but the RN had to sign off on R2B. Haven't heard anything stating that they're changing the system. My boss rarely did an MDS...she just signed R2B and V2 (wherever it says "signature of RN assessment coordinator." I signed on the front and V1. Hope this helps!

I think this is a CMS regulation...not a state by state one...that the RN has to sign off.
