Notices & 60 spell of illness?

by jpav33

If a resident has been on medicare A for a few weeks and now no longer needs skilled care , & is still a resident of the nuring home, are there any notices that need to be given? The doctor DC'd skilled services, do we need to do anything else? On the 60 day spell of illness, does it start on the day he was Dc'd and what exactly does it mean? It is confusing.. Thanks..from colorado

Yes. Any time you take someone off their skilled benefit, you are required to give them a 48 hour notice.
Secondly, it's a 60 day spell of WELLNESS, not illness. This means if I was taken off my skilled benefit from lack of skill, I would have to have 60 days of being healthy before I could get more medicare days.
