new to mds...a few questionsRegister Today!
- by harley1022 May 11, '12Hi everyone,
I have worked ltc for about 10 years and recently have been given the opportunity to train for mds. It's a small facilty, 28 beds. We only have a few skilled at any given time (2-3). I am going to also work the floor 2 days a week. First, should I ask for a raise or wait and see how I do at it? Second, what kind of hours could I expect to put in for that size facility ?
Also, I have zero experience with MDS...I understand the basics..how much training should I ask for?
- May 13, '12 by Txstarr972With it only being a 28 bed facility, and only 2-3 skilled at a time, I assume the rest are Medicaid or Private Pay? In this once you get fully trained, you should not have to be in there more than a couplr of hours a day. You do need to try and make your way in there each day to keep up with admits and discharges, orders, changes etc. Everything is so time sensitive that you have to keep a close eye on it. Yes, if you were working the floor I would most definately ask for a raise! Good luck to you!
