MDS 3.0 Delayed until October 2010

I have learned from a knowned MDS software vendor...

"A ranking CMS official has just informed NASL (National Association for the Support of Long Term Care) that the agency has decided to defer, by one year, the implementation deadline for MDS 3.0. The implementation deadline previously was set for October 1, 2009; the new implementation deadline is now October 1, 2010."

Reliability-wise, the software vendors are supposed to receive the MDS 3.0 specs months earlier before the final publication. I am treating this notice as unofficial nonetheless. The official notice should appear here.
